「玫瑰英国」(Roses UK) 是英国玫瑰育种协会 (BARB, British Association of Rose Breeders) 独家资助的推广项目, 核心目标是通过系列宣传活动来维持并提升英国国花——玫瑰在公众中的形象。它既不是零售商也不是批发商, 网站始终强调这一身份, 建议用户选好品种后再联系具体供应商询价与配送。

汉普顿宫玫瑰节与参展

项目的主要工作之一是组织会员单位参加每年在汉普顿宫宫殿花园节 (RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival) 举行的「玫瑰节」展销活动, 把英国本土培育的玫瑰新品种集中呈现给公众。参展苗圃来自英格兰、苏格兰、威尔士各地, 是英国玫瑰育种产业链对外集中亮相的传统场合。

「年度玫瑰」评选

「年度玫瑰」(Rose of the Year®) 评选自 1982 年开始, 每年由 BARB 邀请会员育种人提交约 20 个待测新品种, 在从苏格兰阿伯丁到英格兰南部汉普的多个试验点进行两年的栽培观察, 由专业评审与爱好者共同打分, 选出最具推广价值的一个, 选定后约 6 年才面向市场公开发售。

「金标准」玫瑰试验

「金标准」(Gold Standard®) 玫瑰试验由 BARB 发起, 2004 年起由 NIAB 国家农业植物研究所独立管理, 2015 年起转由英国皇家园艺学会下的皇家国家玫瑰协会 (RNRS) 在圣奥尔本斯试验场承办, 综合健康性、丰花性、香气与商业表现等指标, 至今已有 80 个品种获此殊荣, 在加的夫罗思公园、博德希尔花园和肯特赫弗城堡等处都可实地观赏。

玫瑰过滤器与供应商名录

网站主打的「玫瑰过滤器」(Rose Locator) 按玫瑰类型、用途、花色、香气等维度筛选品种, 同时提供英国 27 家以上认证供应商名录 (含 David Austin Roses、Fryer’s Garden Centre、Harkness Roses、Peter Beales Roses、R V Roger 等), 是英国本土玫瑰品种与购买渠道的一站式检索入口。

Project identity and funder

Roses UK is a marketing project funded exclusively by BARB (British Association of Rose Breeders), with the goal of maintaining and increasing the profile of the nation’s favourite flower, the rose, through promotional activities. It is neither a retailer nor wholesaler, and the website always makes this clear — visitors are asked to contact their chosen supplier directly for price, delivery and other purchase details.

Hampton Court Palace Rose Festival

One of its main activities is coordinating members’ participation in the annual “Rose Festival” held at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, where UK-bred new rose varieties are showcased together. Exhibitor nurseries come from across England, Scotland and Wales, and the festival is the traditional gathering point for the British rose breeding industry.

Rose of the Year trials

The “Rose of the Year®” competition has been running since 1982. Every year BARB invites member breeders to enter roughly 20 candidate varieties; these are then grown for two years at trial sites ranging from Aberdeen in the north to Hampshire in the south. Both amateur and professional judges score the entries, and the winning variety is selected about six years before it goes on general sale.

Gold Standard Rose Trials

The “Gold Standard®” Rose Trials were established by BARB. From 2004 to 2014 they were independently managed by NIAB (the National Institute of Agricultural Botany); from 2015 onwards they have been run by the Royal National Rose Society (RNRS) at its St Albans trial grounds. Judging considers health, floriferousness, scent and commercial appeal, and to date 80 varieties have received the award. Many can be seen at Roath Park in Cardiff, Borde Hill Garden in West Sussex and Hever Castle in Kent.

Rose Locator and supplier list

The site’s “Rose Locator” lets visitors filter varieties by type, use, colour and fragrance, and lists more than 27 accredited UK rose suppliers — including David Austin Roses, Fryer’s Garden Centre, Harkness Roses, Peter Beales Roses and R V Roger — making it a one-stop reference for both varieties and UK retail outlets.
