戴维奥斯汀月季（David Austin Roses）由英国育种家大卫·C·H·奥斯汀（David C. H. 育种体系

Brand Heritage
David Austin Roses was founded in 1961 in Shropshire, England, by British rose breeder David C. H. Austin OBE, and has become one of the most influential breeders of the English Rose in the world. From boyhood David Austin was captivated by the rich fragrance and full-petalled charm of old roses, and set out to unite their beauty and perfume with the repeat-flowering strength and disease resistance of modern varieties. That vision eventually gave rise to a new rose category, the English Rose, widely regarded as a milestone in the modern history of rose breeding. After his death in 2018 the nursery has remained a family business, with every rose still hand-raised and carefully selected on the family farm in Shropshire before being shipped to gardeners across dozens of countries, an achievement recognised by twenty-nine Gold Medals at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show.
Breeding Programme
The David Austin Breeding Programme is one of the most extensive rose-breeding operations in the world. Bringing a new rose from first pollination to introduction takes twelve years, moving through Selecting Parents, Hybridisation, Hip Harvesting, Seedling Evaluation and Selection, and Final Selection. Each year the greenhouses are sown with hundreds of thousands of hand-pollinated seeds, and after successive rounds of pot trials, field trials and large-scale comparison plantings, only one or two roses are eventually chosen from the many thousands of beginnings. The breeding philosophy pursued by David Austin insists on combining health, fragrance, form and charm in a single plant, summed up in his own words: “The goal remains the same – to try to develop the healthiest roses possible without compromising their beauty, fragrance, grace and most importantly, their charm.” Every English Rose released by the nursery is bred to carry a distinctive, often powerful fragrance alongside refined flower form and elegant, well-balanced growth.
The Shropshire Gardens
The David Austin Plant Centre & Rose Gardens at Albrighton, Shropshire, is the public heart of the brand and home to the National Collection of English Roses. Set within the peaceful Shropshire countryside, the gardens are organised into six themed areas: the Long Garden, the Victorian Walled Garden, the Renaissance Garden, the Lion Garden, the Patio Garden and the Species Garden, displaying more than four hundred varieties of English Roses. A sculpture of Pat Austin forms the focal point of the display. The gardens are free to visit, open daily from 9am to 5pm, and the site also includes a restaurant, a gift shop and a plant centre.
