每年 3 月中旬,TDS 联合 Designers with Flair Study Club 在达拉斯植物园 (Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden) Rosine Hall 举办为期三天的 ADS 区域性水仙花评选展 (Small Standard Flower Show),分为园艺 (Horticulture)、设计 (Design)、植物艺术摄影 (Botanical Arts Photography) 三个分部,向 ADS、TDS 与美国国家花园俱乐部 (NGC) 会员及公众开放。

Organizational Identity and Membership
The Texas Daffodil Society (TDS) is a regional horticultural organization founded in 1969 and dedicated to stimulating interest in, and developing appreciation of, growing daffodils across Texas. Headquartered in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, TDS serves as the Texas affiliate of the American Daffodil Society (ADS). It is led by a board of officer chairs (Co-Chairs, three Vice Presidents for Membership, Flower Show, and Programs, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian) plus committee chairs for Yearbook, Newsletter, Judging School, Bulb Selection, and Social Media/Webmaster. Annual membership is open to anyone interested in daffodils, with modest dues covering adult, youth, and lifetime categories. The society publishes a monthly newsletter, distributes a Yearbook, and coordinates a Test Bulb Exchange program to circulate trial bulbs among members across multiple seasons.
Spring Daffodil Show and Public Events
Each March, TDS co-hosts a three-day ADS Regional Small Standard Flower Show at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, open to ADS, TDS, and National Garden Clubs members as well as the general public. The show features three divisions (Horticulture, Design, and Botanical Arts Photography) and incorporates an ADS Judging School session. Volunteer opportunities include clerks for horticulture, design, and photography divisions, plus greeters and setup crews, offering hands-on learning for members at every level.
Year-Round Meetings and Member Activities
From October through May, TDS convenes four to five themed meetings at venues in the Dallas area, including Northaven Gardens and Forest Green Branch Library. Programs cover bulb selection for Texas climate, container cultivation, transport and grooming for show entries, companion planting, and past-climate analysis by guest meteorologists. Spring and fall bulb sales supplement these meetings, and an annual field trip in May visits a North Texas public garden or sculpture venue. Monthly newsletters and archive access through the TDS Google Drive keep members connected between gatherings.
Public Garden Partnerships and Local Cultivar Recommendations
TDS maintains long-standing partnerships with leading North Texas public gardens, including the Dallas Arboretum, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Chandor Gardens and Clark Gardens in Weatherford, and the EarthKind Rose Display Garden in Farmers Branch. Drawing on decades of regional trial data and input from Texas A&M University Extension horticulturists, the society curates a Top 10 list of daffodil bulbs suited to the Dallas blackland soil and Gulf Coast conditions, alongside member-tested reblooming varieties developed over more than three decades of North Texas observation.
Affiliate Network and Educational Outreach
As a Southern Region member society of ADS, TDS engages with regional, national, and international daffodil organizations, including DaffSeek, the RHS International Daffodil Register, and national societies in New Zealand, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The society sends delegates to the ADS National Convention (recently held in Reno and upcoming in Chicago) and supports community and school planting initiatives, such as the McKinney youth demonstration garden, to broaden public awareness of daffodils throughout Texas.
