创始人、温室与会员身份
Ing.

期间 4 月 1 日上线的 Early Spring 2026 Offer 已收录 Drosera anglica(捷克 Šumava 山脉、斯洛文尼亚巨型株)、Drosera binata var. dichotoma f. extrema、Drosera filiformis(华盛顿县、佛罗里达北 Plymouth、马萨诸塞、Apalachicola tracyi 白花变种)、Drosera hilaris(南非 Table Mountain)、Drosera murfettii(塔斯马尼亚 Druids 巨型株)、Drosera regia(Bains Kloof 高海拔型)以及 Aldrovanda vesiculosa(Balaton 匈牙利、多瑙河三角洲罗马尼亚)等少见产地型活体或种子,6 至 49 欧元不等,是 2026 年上半年最值得关注的季节特惠。BCP 不对外开放参观,温室仅限内部作业,创始人与团队成员每年固定参加 EEE(European carnivorous plant meetings)会议与国际食虫植物学会(ICPS)大会,可在现场当面交流。
Best Carnivorous Plants (BCP) is a family-run mail-order carnivorous plant nursery based in Ostrava–Poruba, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. Founded and operated single-handedly by Ing. Kamil Pásek, a chemical engineer by training who has been collecting and propagating carnivorous plants since the late 1990s, the nursery maintains more than 120 m² of heated, automated greenhouse space supplemented by two seasonal foil houses, additional grow rooms, and a fully equipped in-vitro tissue culture laboratory. Pavelek is a member of the International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS), the Gesellschaft für Fleischfressende Pflanzen (GFP), and the Czech Carnivorous Plant Society (CCPS o.s.), and has supplied display plants to the Fata Morgana glasshouse at the Prague Botanical Garden on two separate occasions (2002–2004 and 2009).
Catalogue, Cultivar Programme and International Reach
The BCP online catalogue is divided into twenty-three taxonomic sub-categories—Aldrovanda, Byblis, Cephalotus, Darlingtonia, Dionaea, Drosera (Sub)tropical, Drosera Petiolaris Complex, Drosera Pygmy, Drosera Temperate, Drosera Tuberous, Drosophyllum, Genlisea, Heliamphora, Nepenthes Lowland, Nepenthes Intermediate and Highland, Pinguicula Mexican, Pinguicula Temperate, Pinguicula Other, Sarracenia, Utricularia Aquatic, Utricularia Epiphytic, Utricularia Terrestrial, and (Sub)carnivorous Plants—plus Seeds, Specials and Other, Bulk Wholesale, and a seasonal Early Spring Offer. Most live plants are priced between €9 and €149, with the rarest Nepenthes (such as original Yasuhide Nakagawa hybrids involving truncata × peltata) reaching the upper end, while CITES Appendix-I species such as Sarracenia oreophila are restricted to EU destinations and require an additional export permit. Shipping is paused in January through March because of freezing risk, seeds go out year-round, and winter buds of temperate Pinguicula and Drosera plus Drosera pygmy gemmae are dispatched between October and April. Plants are shipped bare-root in live or dried sphagnum, individually labelled, and sent by registered air mail (3–9 days) or EMS (1–2 days), with phytosanitary and CITES documentation available for €30 per parcel.
Payment, Currency and Order Workflow
The minimum order is €20 and BCP accepts 22 currencies including EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CZK, AUD, CAD, CNY and JPY. Payment can be made by VISA, MasterCard, PayPal, bank transfer, Western Union, IPMO postal money order or cheque; a 6.5% surcharge applies to PayPal orders and 4% to credit card orders to cover exchange-rate loss and gateway fees, while bank and cheque fees of €8–10 are charged to the sender. Every order ships with bonus plants or seeds whose retail value is approximately 15% of the order total, selected by the customer from a dedicated bonus list. BCP actively declines to scale up into mass production: most plants offered are seed-grown from founder stock or from legally and ethically sourced field-collected seed, and several rare species first entered general cultivation through the nursery’s distribution work. Trade customers are invited to contact the nursery directly for Dionaea and Mexican Pinguicula clonal material under negotiated terms.
Cultivar Registrations, Publications and Field Work
Kamil Pásek is the sole author of Masožravé rostliny – podrobný návod k pěstování (Carnivorous Plants: a detailed growing manual), first published by Grada in 2006 and reprinted in 2008 (ISBN 8024712490, 116 pages, 100 photographs), and a co-author of the 2003 Sursum title Masožravé rostliny. In 2013 he registered a series of Dionaea muscipula cultivar names with the ICPS—including ‘BCP clone X11’, ‘BCP clone Z11’, ‘BCP B01’, ‘BCP Titan’, ‘Red Fused Petiole – BCP F04’, ‘Big Teeth Red Giant’, and ‘Kim Jong-Il’—and these clones are distributed internationally through partners such as FlytrapStore in the United States. The nursery has long cooperated with botanical gardens, university herbaria and field researchers across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Cuba, South Africa, Madagascar and Australia, and in 2003 co-organised a five-day public exhibition at the Ostrava Museum that drew roughly 1,500 visitors.
Seasonal Cycle and Early Spring 2026 Offer
BCP follows a traditional seasonal release pattern. An August 2025 update invited collaborators with documented wild-collected seed, particularly Australian and African Drosera, epiphytic Utricularia, Mexican and South American Pinguicula, localised terrestrial Utricularia and Genlisea, multiple populations of Sarracenia purpurea, and toothy Nepenthes hybrids, offering in-vitro sowing services in exchange. A further notice on 23 May 2026 confirmed that the live-plant e-shop is now closed for the spring/summer season, with seed orders continuing, and that the main autumn catalogue will reopen in early September 2026. Live-plant sales will run until 1 November 2026, with shipping ending in mid-November, before the usual winter break. The 2026 season is expected to resume in spring or autumn 2027 with a revised selection. The Early Spring 2026 Offer, launched on 1 April, currently lists provenance-attached Drosera anglica from the Czech Šumava Mountains and from Slovenia, Drosera binata var. dichotoma f. extrema, Drosera filiformis variants from Plymouth, Massachusetts and northern Florida, a white-flowered Drosera filiformis var. tracyi, Drosera hilaris from South Africa’s Table Mountain, a giant Tasmanian Drosera murfettii, a high-altitude Bains Kloof form of Drosera regia, and Aldrovanda vesiculosa from Lake Balaton and the Romanian Danube delta, priced between €6 and €49. The greenhouse is not open to the public, but the founder and team meet visitors at the annual European carnivorous plant meetings and at the International Carnivorous Plant Society conference.
