历史沿革
长江大学园艺园林学院源自 1985 年成立的湖北农学院园艺系，2003 年长江大学组建时正式成立园艺园林学院，至今已有 40 余年的教学科研和人才培养历史。学院院训为”明德笃学 精艺致美”，以学科建设为龙头，人才培养为核心，队伍建设为抓手，产教融合为途径，已形成本科、硕士、博士完整的高等教育人才培养体系。
学科与学位
学院现有园艺、园林、智慧农业 3 个本科专业和 1 个自然教育微专业，开设园艺植物资源与利用二级博士学位点和园艺学一级学科硕士学位点，并设有风景园林、农艺与种业 2 个专业硕士学位点。园艺学为湖北省”十四五”特色优势学科群”农产品绿色高效生产”的支撑学科，风景园林学为湖北省重点培育学科，2022 年智慧农业获批国家新农科专业。园艺专业 2014 年入选教育部首批”拔尖创新型人才”培养模式改革试点项目，2019 年获批湖北省一流本科专业；园林专业 2014 年入选首批”复合应用型农林人才”培养试点，2022 年获批国家一流本科专业。
师资队伍
学院有教职工 76 人，其中专任教师 66 人，含教授 20 人（二级教授 2 人、特任教授 4 人）、副教授 30 人（特任副教授 7 人），具有博士学位教师 46 人；博士生导师 7 人，硕士生导师 53 人。师资队伍中包括国家高层次人才特殊支持计划领军人才 1 人，享受国务院政府津贴专家 1 人，湖北省新世纪高层次人才工程优秀青年骨干人才 2 人，楚天学者 5 人，楚天名师 1 人，湖北省博士后尖端人才 1 人。学院在校本科生 828 人，硕博士研究生 320 人。
科研与平台
学院以园艺学和风景园林学为学科引领，以生姜、银杏、楠木、菌根、核桃等为科研载体，近五年主持或参与国家重点研发计划项目、国家自然科学基金项目、湖北省重点研发计划项目等各类科研项目 165 项，获省部级和国家行业学会科学技术奖 20 项（含一等奖 1 项、二等奖 6 项），出版专著教材 17 部，发表高水平论文 600 余篇，育成新品种 4 个，授权国家发明专利 24 件和国际发明专利 29 件。学院现有 1 个博士后流动站，并建有楠木国家林业和草原局重点实验室、香辛园艺植物种质创新与利用湖北省重点实验室、湖北省生姜脱毒种姜快速繁育研发中心等省部级科研平台，以及基础教学实验室、大学生创新训练实验室、科研实验室三类功能实验室。
国际合作与人才培养
学院先后与韩国首尔国立大学、美国北达科他州立大学、美国杜克大学、加拿大卡尔加里大学等国外高校签订联合办学协议，开展互派访问学者、互派本硕交流生、联合培养本科生与研究生、合作开展科学研究等合作；学院还与中国科学院武汉植物园、中国农科院蔬菜花卉研究所、湖北省林业勘察设计院、湖北省农科院果树茶叶研究所和经济作物研究所、广东省农科院、上海市农科院等知名科研院所建立稳定的实践教学基地。本科生考研录取率连续攀升，先后有 100 余名学生被浙江大学、上海交通大学、中国农业大学、华中农业大学、南京农业大学等”双一流”高校录取，毕业生就业率持续稳定在 95% 以上。
Development History
The College of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture traces back to the Department of Horticulture founded in 1985 at Hubei Agricultural College. When Yangtze University was established through a merger in 2003, the college was formally created, marking more than four decades of teaching, research and talent cultivation. Guided by the motto “Virtue and diligence in learning, exquisiteness in art and beauty”, the college builds on discipline construction as the leading priority, talent cultivation as the core, team development as the foundation, and industry-education integration as the pathway, forming a complete higher-education system that covers undergraduates, master’s and doctoral students.
Disciplines and Degrees
The college runs three undergraduate programmes — Horticulture, Landscape Gardening, and Smart Agriculture — together with one micro-programme in Nature Education. It is authorised to award a doctoral degree in the secondary discipline of Horticultural Plant Resources and Utilization, a master’s degree in the first-level discipline of Horticulture, and professional master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and in Agronomy and Seed Industry. Horticulture is a supporting discipline for the “Green and Efficient Agricultural Production” characteristic discipline cluster of Hubei Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, while Landscape Architecture is a key developing discipline of Hubei Province. Smart Agriculture was approved as a national new agricultural science programme in 2022. The Horticulture programme was selected in 2014 for the Ministry of Education’s first batch of “Top-notch Innovative Talents” training reform pilots and was named a Hubei provincial first-class undergraduate programme in 2019; the Landscape Gardening programme was selected in 2014 for the “Compound Application-oriented Agricultural and Forestry Talents” pilots and was named a national first-class undergraduate programme in 2022.
Faculty
The college has 76 faculty and staff members, including 66 full-time teachers — 20 professors (two second-level professors and four specially-appointed professors), 30 associate professors (seven specially-appointed associate professors) and 46 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 7 doctoral supervisors and 53 master’s supervisors. The faculty includes one leading talent under the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents, one expert receiving the State Council Special Allowance, two outstanding young scholars under Hubei’s New Century High-level Talent Programme, five Chutian Scholars, one Chutian Famous Teacher and one top-tier postdoctoral talent of Hubei Province. The college currently has 828 undergraduates and 320 master’s and doctoral students.
Research and Platforms
Discipline leadership comes from Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, with research centred on ginger, ginkgo, nanmu, mycorrhizae and walnuts. Over the past five years, the faculty have led or participated in 165 research projects, including national key R&D programmes, National Natural Science Foundation projects and Hubei provincial key R&D initiatives. They have won 20 awards at provincial, ministerial or national industry-association level (including one first prize and six second prizes), published 17 monographs and textbooks, more than 600 high-impact papers, bred 4 new plant varieties, and been granted 24 national and 29 international invention patents. The college hosts one postdoctoral research station and operates provincial and ministerial platforms such as the Key Laboratory of Phoebe of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Hubei Key Laboratory of Germplasm Innovation and Utilization of Spicy Horticultural Plants, and the R&D Center for Rapid Propagation of Virus-free Ginger Seeds in Hubei Province, supported by basic teaching, undergraduate innovation and research laboratories.
International Cooperation and Talent Development
The college has signed joint-education agreements with Seoul National University, North Dakota State University, Duke University and the University of Calgary, covering visiting scholars, undergraduate and graduate exchanges, joint degree programmes and collaborative research. It has also established stable practice-teaching bases with research institutes and enterprises including the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Hubei Provincial Forestry Survey and Design Institute, the Fruit and Tea Research Institute of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. More than 100 undergraduates have been admitted to “Double First-Class” universities such as Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University and Nanjing Agricultural University, and the graduate employment rate has stayed above 95%.
