苗圃沿革
德国 Westphal 铁线莲苗圃位于石荷州 Pinneberg 县 Prisdorf 村外, 是德国经营铁线莲属植物历史最悠久的专业苗圃之一. 苗圃 1953 年 7 月由 Friedrich Westphal 老先生在 Quickborn 创立, 起初同时栽培玫瑰, 针叶树, 欧石南, 宿根花卉和铁线莲, 用单轴拖拉机带拖车把苗拉到周边周末集市售卖. 五六十年代德国周末集市仍是居民采购主力, 苗圃的杂项盆栽在那段时间被装上卡车跑遍整个地区集市. 后来超市和大型卖场兴起, 周末集市的园艺份额才逐渐淡出, 苗圃从此彻底告别了早期那种走集市的模式.
迁址 Prisdorf 与全面专精铁线莲
1978 年苗圃从 Quickborn 整体搬到 Prisdorf, 由第二代传人 Friedrich Manfred Westphal 接手经营. 新址 Peiner Hof 是位于 Prisdorf 和 Pinneberg 之间的一片旧庄园地, 八十年代被改建成 18 洞 Golfpark Peiner Hof 高尔夫球场, 苗圃作为附属设施一直保留至今. 搬到 Prisdorf 后苗圃经历了二十年连续扩张, 从一间传统 Baumschule 起步, 走过了 Zierpflanzen 综合盆栽阶段, 直到八十年代才完全把生产重心放到铁线莲上. 现在的苗圃年产量约 10 万株铁线莲, 涵盖 400 多个品种, 是名副其实的 Clematis 专营 Betrieb.
繁育, 品种收集与展示花园
Westphal 苗圃自己负责从繁殖, 栽培到包装, 发货的整个链条, 长期员工 6 名, 旺季再加 2 名季节工. 品种库几十年持续扩充, 团队除了从世界各地引入新品外, 还自己选育, 重点筛选高观赏价值且抗病性好的品系. 苗圃内附设的 Schaugarten 从六月开到九月底十月初, 紧邻 2000 年建成的销售温室, 把上百种铁线莲按真实使用场景搭配种植, 既给入门爱好者, 也给资深铁线莲玩家提供参考. 销售温室里除了盆栽铁线莲, 也卖自己加工的 Obelisken 和 Portale 攀援架, 支持按客户尺寸定制, 还配齐了铁线莲专用基质, 缓释肥等配套资材.

苗圃在售品类按系列划分, 主要有 Clematis Hybriden 大花杂交系列, Clematis Alpina 阿尔卑斯小铃系列, Clematis Montana 山铁线莲系列, Stauden / Herbaceous 宿根草本类, Viticella 意铁系列, Texensis & Viorna 德州与北美铃铛系列, Orientalis / Tangutica 东方与唐古特系列, vitalba 欧洲原种, 冬绿 Immergrüne, 以及少量 Raritäten 珍稀收藏类. 邮购通过自营 Online-Shop 接收订单, 客户下单时可自选希望送达的周次, 没有上架的品种也常备 Kulturreserve 库存, 在备注栏填入想要的品种名即可, 苗圃随后回信确认能提供的品种与数量. 现场销售周一至周五 9:00 – 18:00, 周六 9:00 – 13:00 全程开放. 苗圃每年还参加德国境内多个 Gartenfestivals und Pflanzenmärkte 园艺节和植物市集.

Nursery Origins
Westphal Clematis Nursery sits just outside Prisdorf in the district of Pinneberg, Schleswig-Holstein, and is one of the longest-running specialist Clematis growers in Germany. The nursery was founded in July 1953 by Friedrich Westphal Sr. in Quickborn. In the early years the range covered roses, conifers, heather, herbaceous perennials and Clematis, all hauled to surrounding weekend markets with a single-axle tractor and trailer. Through the 1950s and 1960s the German Wochenmärkte were still the main shopping channel for daily goods, so the nursery sent mixed plant trolleys to markets across the region for decades. As supermarkets and big-box stores took over, the weekend market trade for garden plants gradually faded, and the nursery moved on from that early pattern of market runs.
Relocation to Prisdorf and Full Specialisation
In 1978 the operation moved from Quickborn to Prisdorf, where the second generation, Friedrich Manfred Westphal, took over the running of the business. The new site sits on the Peiner Hof, a former estate between Prisdorf and Pinneberg that was converted in the 1980s into the 18-hole Golfpark Peiner Hof, with the nursery kept on as part of the wider grounds. After the move the nursery expanded steadily for twenty years, going from a traditional Baumschule into a Zierpflanzen general potted plant range before finally focusing entirely on Clematis in the 1980s. Today the nursery grows around 100,000 Clematis plants a year in over 400 cultivars, and is a true Clematis Spezialbetrieb.
Propagation, Cultivar Collection and Display Garden
Westphal Nursery handles the whole chain in-house, from propagation and growing through to packing and dispatch, with a permanent team of six and two seasonal workers during the spring and summer months. The cultivar list has been built up over decades; the team brings in new varieties from around the world and also runs its own breeding work, focusing on plants with strong ornamental value and good disease resistance. The on-site Schaugarten flowers from June through late September or October, attached directly to the retail greenhouse built in 2000, and plants several hundred Clematis in real-life combinations for both beginners and experienced growers. Inside the retail greenhouse the nursery also sells its own Obelisken and adjustable Portale climbing frames, takes custom dimensions on request, and stocks Clematis compost, fertiliser and other supporting supplies.
Range and Mail-Order Process
The catalogue is divided into series: Clematis Hybriden large-flowered hybrids, Clematis Alpina, Clematis Montana, Stauden / Herbaceous, Viticella, Texensis & Viorna, Orientalis / Tangutica, vitalba, Immergrüne evergreens, and a small Raritäten collector group. Mail orders go through the in-house Online-Shop, where customers pick their preferred delivery week when checking out; if a wanted cultivar is not listed online there is usually a Kulturreserve held back, and the name can be added in the notes field at the end of the order, after which the nursery replies to confirm what it can supply. On-site retail runs Monday to Friday 9:00 – 18:00 and Saturday 9:00 – 13:00, year-round. The nursery also attends a number of Gartenfestivals und Pflanzenmärkte garden festivals and plant fairs around Germany each year.

A new Katalog is published every year; the current Katalog online 2025/2026 is available to browse online and lists every cultivar for sale with photos and cultivation notes.
