联合体概况
苏格兰荣誉花园（Glorious Gardens of Argyll & Bute）是苏格兰西部一个由十八个花园组成的开放型联合体，所属花园建造年代跨越十三世纪到二十世纪，规模、风格和成熟度各异，多数沿阿盖尔大陆海岸延伸，并分布在比特、吉厄和锡尔三座岛屿上。联合体附属于”探索苏格兰花园”（Discover Scottish Gardens）联盟，每年四到五月会参与联盟主办的”苏格兰春季杜鹃花节”，集中展示园中盛放的球根花卉、延龄草、芍药、樱花、木兰与成片原生杜鹃。

植物收藏与代表园区
联合体成员以原种杜鹃、木兰和大型针叶树见长，其中部分松柏是英国境内体量最大的树木代表。本格植物园占地一百二十英亩，坐落在山坡之上，自一八六三年栽下的巨杉大道至今已逾五十米高，园内分区域展示来自喜马拉雅、中国、日本及南北美洲的植物，秋天成片的桉树与秋色叶交相辉映。克拉拉花园占地五十英亩，以克拉拉溪流为中心，溪上架有数座桥梁穿过岩石峡谷，瀑布与茂密林木交织出近似喜马拉雅河谷的氛围，二〇〇一年由苏格兰国家信托接管后复修了桥、台阶和小径，并补种了多个新收集的野生原种杜鹃，园内还保有南青冈属（Nothofagus）国家收藏。格莱纳恩花园由吉布森家族在一九二〇至三〇年代奠定雏形，以叶面巨大的原种杜鹃杂交后代著称。
春季杜鹃花节与旅游线路
四到五月举办的”苏格兰春季杜鹃花节”是联合体的年度主打活动，所有当时开放的成员花园均参与其中，配合联盟内其他苏格兰花园同步迎客。联合体在网站提供了多条建议线路：从奥本北行一日可串三到四处花园，从奥本南行则可至安卡拉、阿德马迪城堡和阿德韦恩；也可从格拉斯基西行至海伦斯堡一带探访三处临近克莱德海岸的花园；常见的两日路线则从韦姆斯湾乘轮渡到比特岛游览斯图尔特山花园，再继续前往因弗雷里。联合体同时维护在线互动地图，方便游客按区域筛选目的地，并通过电邮订阅推送各园当月活动。
About the Group
Glorious Gardens of Argyll & Bute is an open consortium of eighteen gardens on the west coast of Scotland. The member gardens vary widely in size, style and maturity, with origins stretching from the thirteenth century through to the twentieth. They are spread across the Argyll mainland, often set against dramatic coastal and mountain scenery, and extend to the islands of Bute, Gigha and Seil. The group operates within the wider Discover Scottish Gardens network and joins the annual Scottish Spring Festival of Rhododendrons in April and May.
Member Gardens and Geography
Among the eighteen current members are Achamore Gardens and Ardencraig Gardens on Bute, Mount Stuart Gardens on the Isle of Bute, and on the mainland An Cala, Ardchattan Priory Garden, Ardkinglas Woodland Garden (with its Gruffalo and Fairy Trails), Ardmaddy Castle Gardens, Ardtornish, Arduaine, Barguillean’s Angus Garden, Benmore Botanic Garden, Crarae Garden, Geilston Garden, Glenarn, Iona Hotels Gardens, Kilchoan Estate, Kinlochlaich Walled Garden and Woodland Walk, and Linn Botanic Gardens. Ascog Hall and Inveraray Castle are no longer part of the group. The gardens sit between sea lochs, hillsides and glens and can be linked by car, ferry and short walks.
Plant Collections and Notable Gardens
Across the group, species rhododendrons, magnolias and large conifers are recurrent themes, and several specimens rank among the tallest of their kind in Britain. Benmore Botanic Garden covers 120 acres on a mountainside and welcomes visitors with an avenue of Giant Redwoods planted in 1863 and now standing over 50 metres tall; its plantings group Himalayan, Chinese, Japanese and American taxa, and a seven-mile trail network passes the Victorian fernery, the Bhutanese oak pavilion, the Chilean viewpoint and the Tasmanian Ridge. Crarae Garden covers 50 acres and centres on the Crarae Burn, which tumbles through a rocky gorge beneath sheltering conifers; the National Trust for Scotland has managed the garden since 2001 and the site holds the National Collection of Nothofagus. Glenarn, laid out by the Gibson family in the 1920s and 1930s, is noted for its hybrid big-leaved rhododendrons descended from sinogrande, macabeanum and hodgsonii.
Spring Festival and Itineraries
The Scottish Spring Festival of Rhododendrons runs in April and May across the gardens currently open for the season, with bulbs, trilliums, paeonias, cherries, magnolias and rhododendrons featured in succession. The group’s website lists several suggested routes: a one-day drive north from Oban covering three or four gardens, a one-day run south from Oban to An Cala, Ardmaddy Castle and Arduaine, a one-day circuit west of Glasgow to Cardross, Rhu and Cove on the Clyde coast, and a two-day loop via the Wemyss Bay ferry to the Isle of Bute and then on to Inveraray.
