家族起源与三代传承

自产自销生产温室与植物品类
作为一座生产与零售合一的花园中心,Creekside 在自家温室里完成大多数一年生草花与多年生植物的播种、扦插与裸根育苗,苗床植物大多在本地培育长大。中心常年供应适合阿尔伯塔草原气候的耐寒乔木、灌木和月季,水生植物与池塘造景素材也保持稳定库存;部分胸径规格的成品树直接在场内栽培,顾客可以在现场选择树木尺寸。土壤、害虫与杂草处理产品,以及盆栽、工具、格栅、支架等园艺硬件,被归入同一屋檐下,与盆栽植物形成互补。所有盆栽按规格与色彩分组陈列,大型陶罐从三英尺以上到不足一英尺不等,适合院落入口与庭园角落的不同构图需求。
园艺用品、家居装饰与节庆
花园中心另设园艺装饰区,挑选外观独特、能让邻居忍不住问”哪里买的”户外小品、拱门、花架与摆件,为庭园增添层次。鸟屋、喂食器与蜂鸟喂食器一应俱全,提醒顾客别忘了院中羽毛朋友的日常。家居装饰与时尚区常年更新礼品陈列,展示不同风格的家居饰品与节庆礼物的搭配思路。圣诞季从十月下旬开放圣诞礼品与挂饰,十一月至十二月一品红与圣诞常绿植物陆续上架,春季则重新回到种子、种球与苗床植物的节奏,形成贯穿全年的零售节拍。
全年营业、季节节奏与社区公益
Creekside 标榜全年开放,商品随季节更替轮换。二月至三月初上架种子与播种用品;五月与六月集中供应一年生草花、吊篮与组合盆栽填箱植物;五月中旬至九月持续供应多年生植物、乔木与灌木;九月起引入秋季种球;十月底开放圣诞礼品与挂饰;十一月至十二月一品红与圣诞常绿植物上架;室内植物与盆栽用品则全年无休。中心同时经营春季吊篮与圣诞一品红的团体筹款项目,学校、教会与社区俱乐部可通过凭证券方式集中订购、到店领取。”帮助他人”是中心的长期公益线:每售出一棵果树,中心即通过 Samaritan’s Purse 礼品目录向发展中国家的家庭或社区捐赠 15 棵树苗,2025 年全年累计捐赠达到 4620 棵,目标保持每年至少售出 200 棵果树、捐赠 3000 棵以上树苗。
Family Origins and Three Generations on the Prairies
Creekside Home and Garden traces its roots to the fall of 1952, when Bill and Hilda Friesen moved with their six children to Dunvegan, Alberta, to begin a vegetable farming operation along the Peace River valley. The hard work of seeding, watering, transplanting and harvest carried the family forward, and three of the Friesen sons gradually took on more responsibility, expanding vegetable production along the Peace River. Experience with starting vegetable seedlings in greenhouses led the family to grow bedding plants and perennials from seed and cuttings, and over the following half century the three brothers opened and operated several market gardens and garden centres across the Peace country. A second generation later purchased Garden Valley Greenhouses on the western city limits of Edmonton, and in 2002 third-generation Brock Friesen moved to the new Garden Valley Road location to manage the greenhouse and garden centre. Creekside Home and Garden, an independent company owned by Brock Friesen and family, continues the family tradition of growing, serving and sharing a passion for plants, home decor and prairie horticulture.
Production Greenhouses and Plant Selection
Operating as both a production and retail garden centre, Creekside grows most of its own bedding plants and perennials from seed, cuttings or bare root stock, and stocks a wide selection of prairie-hardy trees, shrubs and roses for Alberta yards. Water plants for ponds and water features round out the perennial range, and many caliper-sized trees are produced on site so customers can choose the size and form that suits their landscape. Garden supplies including soil, pest treatments, weed control products, pottery in sizes ranging from over three feet across down to less than a foot, trellises, supports and tools are grouped alongside the plants so a single trip covers planting, maintenance and decoration. The production greenhouse behind the retail floor keeps the bedding plant benches refreshed through the main growing season.
Garden Décor, Home Fashion and Seasonal Retailing
The garden décor department curates distinctive outdoor pieces, from statement arbours that invite guests to wander through the garden to smaller accents that neighbours tend to ask about. Outdoor pottery comes in heavy-duty ceramics and lighter, more affordable plastics, in sizes from over three feet high or wide down to less than a foot, in colours chosen to complement one another. A bird-friendly section stocks bird houses, feeders and hummingbird supplies; the centre notes that it does not carry bird seed, focusing instead on hardware that brings feathered visitors into the yard. Home décor and fashion run all year with rotating gift displays, and the Christmas department opens in late October with ornaments, poinsettias and fresh greens from November into December, then gives way to the spring seed, bulb and bedding plant season.
Year-Round Operations and Community Giving
Creekside stays open all year, with stock rotating to match the season: seeds and seeding supplies arrive in February or early March; annuals, hanging baskets and basket stuffers fill the benches in May and June; perennials, trees and shrubs run from mid May through September; fall bulbs arrive in September; Christmas giftware and ornaments open in late October with poinsettias and fresh greens from November into December; and houseplants plus houseplant supplies remain available year-round. Spring hanging basket vouchers and winter poinsettia vouchers support school, church and community club fundraisers, with the spring baskets and poinsettias grown in-house. The Helping Others programme ties fruit tree sales to international aid: for every fruit tree sold at Creekside the centre gifts 15 seedlings to a family or community in a developing country through the Samaritan’s Purse Gift Catalogue, and in 2025 the centre gave 4620 seedlings, exceeding the standing goal of 200 fruit trees and 3000 seedlings per year.
