机构定位与历史
英国特许园艺研究所 (Chartered Institute of Horticulture, 简称 CIH) 成立于上世纪八十年代中期, 是英国及爱尔兰园艺行业唯一的特许专业组织, 旨在汇聚所有涉及园艺生产、设计、教育、管理、研究等领域的专业人才。2014 年 7 月 21 日, 该所正式获得英国皇家特许状, 成为业内唯一能够将所有园艺专业人士聚拢在同一框架内的权威机构, 在政策倡导、行业标准与会员权益等领域发挥独特作用。
会员体系与特许资格
研究所设立学生、准会员、普通会员、特许会员以及会士五级阶梯式会员体系, 覆盖职业发展全周期。其中特许会员 (Chartered Horticulturist, 缩写 CHort) 是行业最高专业认可, 申请人需在成为普通会员或会士的基础上, 提交专业履历并通过两名特许官员面试, 获授后可使用 CHort 头衔, 每年还需完成三十小时持续专业发展 (CPD) 学时以维持资格。
行业奖项与年轻园艺师计划
研究所每年举办 CIH Awards 评选, 表彰在创新、教学、可持续栽培与公众推广等方向有突出贡献的从业者与项目; 同时主办享誉全英的 Young Horticulturist of the Year (YHOY) 青年园艺师年度竞赛, 面向三十岁以下青年从业者, 二〇二六年度冠军已于近期揭晓, 持续为行业输送后备力量。

About the Institute
The Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CIH) is the United Kingdom and Ireland’s chartered professional body for everyone working in horticulture, established in the mid-1980s and awarded its Royal Charter on 21 July 2014. It is the only organisation that brings together practitioners across production, garden design, education, public horticulture, research and horticultural management under a single recognised framework, providing a collective voice for the sector at national and regional level.
Membership and Chartered Status
The Institute operates a five-tier membership ladder spanning Student, Associate, Member, Chartered and Fellow grades, supporting careers from the earliest years through to senior leadership. The Chartered Horticulturist designation (post-nominal letters CHort) is the profession’s highest independent recognition and requires candidates to submit a professional information form, sit an interview with two Chartered officers, and complete thirty hours of Continuing Professional Development each year to retain the award.
Awards and the Young Horticulturist Competition
Each year the CIH Awards celebrate individuals and projects that demonstrate innovation, teaching excellence, sustainable cultivation practices or outstanding public engagement with horticulture. The Institute also runs the well-known Young Horticulturist of the Year (YHOY) competition for practitioners under thirty, a flagship event that nurtures the next generation of professional horticulturists across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Advocacy, Education and Grants
The Institute serves as an authoritative voice for horticulture in dialogue with the United Kingdom, Irish and devolved governments, responding to consultations on education policy, plant health, seasonal labour, research funding and trade matters.
