旧版的招牌域名 greenhousesdirect.co.uk 现在已经跳转到 rhinogreenhouses.co.uk,站名也跟着改了。

和 Great British Growing Awards 在内的奖项。

A family greenhouse maker in rural Norfolk

Rhino Greenhouses is a British maker of aluminium greenhouses with its own factory in East Harling, Norfolk. The company was founded in 1999, and its own account is plain about it: as the world prepared for a new era that year, they were planning a revolution of their own. The starting point is not complicated — a group of gardeners who had seen enough of the greenhouses on offer and decided to make better ones.

The line “designed by gardeners, for gardeners” is one they repeat, and it is checkable: they are the factory. There is no middleman. The older trading domain greenhousesdirect.co.uk now redirects to rhinogreenhouses.co.uk, and the name has changed with it.

The range is three collections plus an accessory type. Rhino Classic is the original, 6ft and 8ft wide and 4ft to 12ft long, from £1,499. Rhino Premium is the best-selling, 6ft to 12ft wide and 4ft to 20ft long, from £1,899. Rhino Ultimate is the largest thing they make, only 7ft and 9ft wide and 8ft to 12ft long, from £5,249. Alongside them sit a Patio Greenhouse for small gardens and terraces, and cold frames for propagation and shelter.

The site publishes the full postal address, telephone numbers, freephone line and email addresses. None of that is reproduced here; the company’s site is the place to reach them.

The twenty-five year guarantee and where it stops

The core promise is a 25 year guarantee. The terms page states that it runs from the date of despatch from the factory, and that it applies to the aluminium and to the glass. That is an unusual arrangement — most comparable products carry far shorter warranties. The company’s explanation is a single sentence: we build every Rhino with unrivalled strength and we are so confident in the quality that each one comes with a 25 year guarantee.

What is striking is how sharply divided the customer feedback is, more so than for most brands. In the positive column, durability leads: one owner writes that hers has been going for well over ten years, moved house, spent a year in storage and came out looking as good as new — no dents, no scratches, no rust on the paintwork. Others chose Rhino specifically because the site is very windy and the reviews said they stand up to it. The negative column concentrates on after-sales service: one Trustpilot review calls the 25 year guarantee worth the paper it is written on, after three months trying to get a defective window hinge replaced.

That contrast is worth stating plainly, because it is the two sides of buying this kind of product. A greenhouse is expected to last twenty-five years in this country, and the manufacturer’s service capacity matters as much as the aluminium. The company’s answer is that its factory and customer service teams are in constant communication, and that in January 2025 it was awarded Platinum status by the independent review regulator Feefo — an average of 4.9 stars for product ratings and 4.8 for customer experience across more than nine years of data, and 4.9 stars on Google.

Where the specification actually differs

The shared specification is written out in detail, and these are the points that genuinely separate one greenhouse from another.

Glazing is 4mm toughened safety glass in aluminium frames. Ventilation comes as standard on every model, with roof vents that open automatically and run on solar power — no wiring needed, which in a greenhouse is not a small thing. Entry is at a low threshold so a wheelchair or a barrow goes straight in. Heavy duty hanging basket rails sit above the door. The base is integral, so no separate base frame has to be bought.

Then there is price. The three collections start at £1,499, £1,899 and £5,249 respectively, and the spread of widths and lengths is wide. Classic stops at 8ft wide; Premium runs from 6ft to 12ft wide and out to 20ft long; Ultimate comes in only two widths but is much bigger. The company puts the affordability argument bluntly: buying direct from the manufacturer removes the wholesalers and the middlemen, so you get the best deal available; and delivery is free to mainland UK and Northern Ireland addresses. Payment is available as interest-free instalments from around £195 a month.

A small silver-framed glass greenhouse in a garden with a pitched roof, opened roof vents and decorative finials and its door standing open; tomato plants, shelving, pots and tools inside; gravel paths, terracotta pots, vegetable beds, trellises and wire fencing outside, with trees and fields beyond

Beyond the greenhouses themselves, they make aluminium raised beds in single and double tier versions, seedracks and trays, cold frames, blinds, greenhouse heaters, rainwater collection and irrigation systems, and a full spare parts range — replacement glass panes, ventilation parts, base anchors, gutter parts and general fixings. Having parts available matters over time: a greenhouse is a twenty-five year object and things do break.

Where to see one: the factory, an RHS garden, and schools

There are five places in Britain where you can see a Rhino in person: their own Norfolk factory showroom, RHS Bridgewater, Jarrolds Letheringsett, Nepeta England and the Yarrow Cookery School. The factory showroom has one rule worth knowing: it sits inside a working factory site, so children and pets are not permitted on site. Visits are by appointment, free and one-to-one, lasting an hour, with a member of staff on hand to talk through models, sizes and colour options; you get an email confirmation once the slot is agreed.

In 2024 the company took the Five Star Trade Stand award at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. It says it has appeared alongside the best of British gardening at the major RHS shows for years, and has been recognised for service and product with awards including Which? and the Great British Growing Awards.

Schools are a separate line of business. Since March 2025, any school or educational establishment ordering a Rhino greenhouse qualifies for a 15% discount, with bulk stock preparation and priority despatch. The stated reason is local: as a company rooted in its community, they are glad to support schools and educational establishments so children and young adults have somewhere to learn gardening and grow their own produce.

Two things worth having before you buy

For individual buyers there are two services worth knowing about. The knowledge hub organises guidance by topic — what to consider before buying a greenhouse, which glazing to choose, how bases work, how to maintain a greenhouse, how to control temperature — and includes a soil calculator. And there is installation: the site carries assembly, base anchoring and build instructions, alongside a page recruiting Rhino installers. The company works with a network of certified installers around the country, and you can order through them for a local team to build it.

There is also a printed brochure pack, free on request, with the full range described, aluminium sample swatches in each colour and a price list. The printed version is currently sent to UK addresses only.
