About the Practice
BCA Landscape is a Liverpool- and London-based landscape architecture practice founded in 1984. The firm focuses on public realm, urban design and place-making across the United Kingdom and internationally, and is regarded as one of the established landscape practices in the British design industry.
Team & Leadership
The practice is led by Directors Andrew Thompson and Michael O’Connell. The wider team comprises senior landscape architects such as James Watts and Shivani Gunawardana, alongside architects and assistant landscape architects including Craig Mitchell and Hussein Razak, serving universities, developers, local authorities and architectural practices throughout the UK.
Service Scope
Services span public realm design, urban regeneration, waterfront landscapes, parks and gardens, cultural heritage, education-sector landscapes and residential and community placemaking. From concept planning and site survey through planning applications to site management, the firm has transformed over 200 million pounds of public realm and 50,000 homes from concept to completion.
Representative Projects
Representative projects include the Glade of Light memorial in Manchester following the 2017 Arena attack, a 100% social housing scheme in Greenwich, a 1km green cycle corridor at Princes Boulevard in Liverpool, the Liverpool Waterfront regeneration, public realm works at Liverpool Lime Street and Princes Avenue, and community and leisure landscapes such as the PopUP Forest Bathing Pod and Vantage Point.
