Location and Three Generations of Family Stewardship

Coal Trail Greenhouse is an independent, family-run greenhouse garden centre in Red Deer County, Alberta, Canada, presently operated by its third owner. The business has run continuously for more than twenty years under the Prairie climate of south-central Alberta, building its identity around homegrown bedding plants, herbs, perennials, and locally adapted berry stock, alongside retail partnerships with neighbouring small craftspeople and artisans.

Homegrown Plant Range and Signature Hanging Baskets

The centre grows the great majority of its own stock on site: bedding plants, culinary herbs, a range of vegetables, perennials, thornless raspberries, rhubarb, lilies, irises, and daylilies, alongside a deep selection of vegetable seeds, seed potatoes, horseradish, and onion sets. The most recognisable single line is more than 1,400 hanging baskets produced each season in two sizes to suit Prairie conditions. All baskets and custom containers are filled with a soilless Promix medium supplied by a Central Alberta producer, blended with a water-holding gel and a slow-release granular fertilizer, with the standard rhythm of feeding with every third watering.
