历史沿革
四川农业大学是一所以生物科技为特色、农业科技为优势、多学科协调发展的国家”211 工程”重点建设大学和国家”双一流”建设高校。前身是 1906 年创办的四川通省农业学堂，此后又经历四川高等农业学校（1912 年）、四川公立农业专门学校（1914 年）、公立四川大学农科学院（1927 年）、四川省立农学院（1932 年）、国立四川大学农学院（1935 年）等历史阶段。1956 年四川大学农学院整体迁至原西康省省会雅安独立建校为四川农学院，1985 年更名为四川农业大学，2001 年四川省林业学校整体并入。现任党委书记刘登才教授，校长吴德教授。
学科体系与优势
学校现设有雅安、成都（温江）和都江堰 3 个校区，占地总面积约 4500 亩，馆藏文献资源 1799 万册（件）。设有学院 26 个、研究所 4 个、国家重点实验室 2 个，涵盖农学、理学、工学、经济学、管理学、医学、文学、教育学、法学、艺术学 10 大学科门类。拥有博士后科研流动站 9 个，博士学位授权一级学科 12 个、二级学科 61 个，硕士学位授权一级学科 21 个，硕士专业学位授予类别 20 个，本科招生专业 74 个；国家重点学科和重点培育学科 4 个、部省重点学科 20 个。作物学为国家”双一流”建设学科，植物学与动物学、农业科学 2 个学科 ESI 排名世界前 1‰，另有 10 个学科 ESI 排名世界前 1%，农学、兽医学 2025 年分别排名软科世界一流学科第 21 位和第 15 位。

学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工 3317 人，其中教授 483 人、副教授 613 人，博士生导师 401 人、硕士生导师 933 人。拥有中国工程院院士 1 人，何梁何利基金获得者 2 人，长江学者特聘教授 5 人、特设岗位 1 人、青年学者 9 人，国家级教学名师 1 人，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者 5 人，国家优秀青年科学基金获得者 8 人，国家百千万人才工程人选 13 人，国家高层次人才特殊支持计划领军人才 5 人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家 86 人，省级高层次人才 336 人次。具备培养学士、硕士、博士的完整教育体系，是 1976 年以后全国首批恢复招收研究生的高校之一，现有全日制在校生 4.7 万余人。

学校科研实力雄厚、平台层次分明。拥有西南作物基因资源发掘与利用国家重点实验室 1 个，猪禽种业全国重点实验室（共建）1 个，崖州湾国家实验室成都粮油作物试验基地 1 个，国家生物育种产教融合创新平台（生猪生物育种）1 个。建有省部共建国家重点实验室、动物抗病营养与饲料、动物抗病营养、西南作物生理生态与耕作、西南玉米生物学与遗传育种、西南作物基因资源创新利用等教育部、农业农村部、自然资源部、国家林草局重点实验室和工程（技术）研究中心 18 个，教育部协同创新中心 1 个、科技部条件平台 1 个、农业农村部科学观测实验站等部省级科研站点 6 个、全国名特优新农产品全程质量控制技术中心 1 个、四川省重点实验室和工程（技术）研究中心 15 个、四川省哲学社会科学重点实验室 1 个、四川省社会科学重点研究基地 2 个、四川省国际科技合作基地 5 个、四川省科技资源共享服务平台 3 个，并设有西南动物疫病防控技术、动物抗病营养生物技术、西南作物育种等教育部工程研究中心 20 个，覆盖作物、畜禽、园林、林业、智慧农业、生态环保等全链条。先后在国际顶尖学术期刊《Nature》《Cell》《Science》发表高水平论文。获部省级以上科技成果奖励 850 余项，其中国家技术发明特等奖 1 项、一等奖 2 项、二等奖 3 项，国家自然科学二等奖 1 项，国家科技进步二等奖 20 项，四川省科学技术特等奖 3 项、一等奖 73 项；70% 以上的获奖成果得到推广转化，累计创社会经济效益 1000 多亿元。
国际交流与历史地位
学校与美、英、法、德、加、俄、日、韩等 38 个国家和地区 100 多所高校或科研机构建立合作关系，共签署 200 余项交流合作协议，建有中外合作办学机构四川农业大学帕特雷学院，开展”2+2″”3+1″”3+1+X””4+1″等联合培养项目；是全国首批有条件接受留学生的 200 所高校之一、国家建设高水平大学公派研究生项目签约高校、中国政府奖学金生培养高校、”粮食安全”教育科技创新联盟创始高校。2022 年 6 月 8 日，习近平总书记到四川省眉山市东坡区太和镇永丰村考察，学校马均教授向总书记汇报了水稻试验育种和种植推广情况，总书记对以马均教授为代表的农业科技工作者给予高度评价。1991 年 4 月和 2002 年 5 月江泽民同志先后两次亲临学校视察，2002 年 1 月和 2007 年 10 月温家宝同志两次批示”川农大精神”应该总结、宣传和发扬。学校建设与发展持续受到党和国家领导人的高度重视与亲切关怀。
Historical Evolution
Sichuan Agricultural University (SICAU) is a national “Project 211” key construction university and a “Double First-Class” initiative university, distinguished by biotechnology and strengthened by agricultural science. Its predecessor, the Sichuan Provincial Agricultural School, was founded in 1906, and it has gone through several historical stages including the Higher Agricultural School of Sichuan (1912), the Sichuan Provincial Agricultural Specialized School (1914), the Agricultural College of Public Sichuan University (1927), the Sichuan Provincial Agricultural College (1932), and the Agricultural College of National Sichuan University (1935). In 1956 the Agricultural College of Sichuan University relocated to Ya’an and was re-established as Sichuan Agricultural College. It was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University in 1985, and the Sichuan Forestry School was merged into it in 2001. The current Party Secretary is Prof. Liu Dengcai and the President is Prof. Wu De.
Discipline System and Strengths
SICAU operates three campuses at Ya’an, Chengdu (Wenjiang) and Dujiangyan, with a total area of about 4,500 mu and library holdings of 17.99 million volumes. The university runs 26 colleges, 4 research institutes and 2 state key laboratories, covering 10 disciplinary categories including agronomy, science, engineering, economics, management, medicine, literature, education, law and art. It has 9 postdoctoral research stations, 12 first-level and 61 second-level doctoral programs, 21 first-level master’s programs, 20 master’s professional degree categories and 74 undergraduate majors. The university holds 4 national key disciplines and 20 provincial key disciplines. Crop Science is a national “Double First-Class” discipline. Plant & Animal Science and Agricultural Sciences rank in the global top 1‰ of ESI, with another 10 disciplines in the global top 1% of ESI; Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences ranked 21st and 15th respectively in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
Faculty and Talent
SICAU has a strong faculty of 3,317, including 483 professors and 613 associate professors, with 401 doctoral supervisors and 933 master’s supervisors. The university counts 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2 recipients of the He Liang He Li Foundation, 5 Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professors and 9 Changjiang Young Scholars, 1 national-level teaching master, 5 National Distinguished Young Scholars, 8 National Excellent Young Scholars, 13 candidates of the National Hundred-Thousand-Ten-Thousand Talents Project, 5 leading talents of the National High-Level Talents Special Support Program, and 86 experts enjoying the State Council Special Allowance. The university has also cultivated 336 provincial-level high-level talents. SICAU runs a complete education system from bachelor’s to doctoral degrees, and is one of the first universities in China to resume postgraduate enrollment after 1976. Current enrollment stands at more than 47,000 full-time students.
Research Strength and Platforms
SICAU runs an extensive and tiered research platform system. The university hosts the National Key Laboratory of Southwest Crop Genetic Resource Exploitation and Utilization (2021), the National Key Laboratory of Pig and Poultry Seed Industry (co-built, 2022), the Yazhouwan National Laboratory Chengdu Grain and Oil Crop Experimental Base (2024), and the National Bio-Breeding Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform for Pig Bio-Breeding (2025). It also operates 18 key laboratories and engineering (technology) research centers under the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources, and National Forestry and Grassland Administration; 1 Ministry of Education collaborative innovation center, 1 Ministry of Science and Technology platform, 6 ministerial-level scientific observation stations, 1 National Quality and Safety Center for Premium and Special Agro-Products, 15 Sichuan provincial key laboratories and engineering centers, 1 Sichuan philosophy and social science key laboratory, 2 Sichuan social science key research bases, 5 Sichuan international science and technology cooperation bases, 3 Sichuan science and technology resource sharing service platforms, and 20 engineering (technology) research centers spanning crops, livestock, landscape, forestry, smart agriculture, and eco-environment. Research awards exceed 850 provincial or ministerial level prizes, including 1 National Technology Invention Special Prize, 2 National Technology Invention First Prizes, 3 National Technology Invention Second Prizes, 1 National Natural Science Second Prize, 20 National Science and Technology Progress Second Prizes, 3 Sichuan Science and Technology Special Prizes and 73 First Prizes. More than 70% of the awarded results have been promoted and transformed, creating an accumulated social and economic benefit of over 100 billion yuan. High-impact papers have been published in top international journals such as Nature, Cell and Science.
International Exchange and Position
SICAU has established academic cooperation with more than 100 universities and research institutions across 38 countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Russia, Japan and South Korea, signing over 200 cooperation agreements. The joint institute Sichuan Agricultural University-Patras Institute runs in partnership with the University of Patras, and the university offers joint training programs in 2+2, 3+1, 3+1+X and 4+1 formats. SICAU is one of the first 200 universities in China qualified to admit international students, a contracted university of the national high-level university public-funded postgraduate program, a Chinese Government Scholarship training institution, and a founding member of the “Food Security” Education, Science and Technology Innovation Alliance. In June 2022 General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Yongfeng Village in Dongpo District, Meishan City, where Prof. Ma Jun of SICAU reported on rice trial breeding and planting promotion, and the General Secretary highly praised the agricultural science and technology workers represented by Prof. Ma. The university has also received consistent attention and care from the Party and national leaders, including inspection visits by Comrade Jiang Zemin in 1991 and 2002, and two instructions by Comrade Wen Jiabao in 2002 and 2007 affirming the “SICAU spirit” of loving the country, dedication, hard work, solidarity, pragmatic innovation.
