历史沿革与办学源头
中国农业大学（China Agricultural University，CAU）是教育部直属全国重点大学，其历史起自于 1905 年成立的京师大学堂农科大学，1995 年 9 月由北京农业大学与北京农业工程大学合并组建而成，江泽民同志亲自题写校名。2025 年 10 月 15 日，习近平总书记给中国农业大学全体师生回信，祝贺学校建校 120 周年。学校是我国现代农业高等教育的起源地，被誉为「中国农业教育的最高学府」，现任党委书记钟登华、校长陈卫。
学科体系与学院架构
学校现已发展成为一所以农学、生命科学、农业工程和食品科学为特色和优势的研究型大学，共设有 19 个实体学院、1 个实体教学单位和 1 个直属系，覆盖农学、工学、理学、经济学、管理学、法学、文学、艺术学、交叉学科等 9 大学科门类。在教育部第四轮一级学科水平评估中，学校 6 个一级学科获评 A+，A+ 学科数量在全国高校中排名第六位。学校拥有 22 个博士后流动站、27 个博士学位授权一级学科、40 个硕士学位授权一级学科、81 个本科专业、15 个 ESI 全球前 1% 学科，其中农业科学、植物与动物科学两个学科的总引用量保持在全球前万分之一。
科研平台与标志性成果
学校构建了由 20 个国家级科研平台（含 11 个全国重点实验室、1 个国家重大科技基础设施、2 个国家工程技术研究中心、3 个国家野外科学观测研究站）和 137 个省部级科研平台组成的科技创新体系。1993 年石元春院士主持完成的「黄淮海平原中低产地区综合治理的研究与开发」研究成果曾获国家科技进步特等奖；十三五以来获国家级科技奖励 37 项、省部级科技奖励 331 项；以第一作者单位或通讯作者单位在 Cell、Nature、Science 三大国际顶级学术期刊上发表高水平论文 40 篇。
国际合作与世界顶尖联盟
学校与亚、非、拉、欧、美各洲 50 多个国家和地区的 260 多所大学、研究机构和国际组织建立了友好合作关系。在加快世界一流大学建设中，学校与美国康奈尔大学、荷兰瓦赫宁根大学、美国加州大学戴维斯分校和巴西圣保罗大学共同成立了「世界顶尖涉农大学联盟（A5）」，并持续推进建设 A5+N 体系；中国农业大学巴西圣保罗大学联合学院是我国与拉美国家建立的第一个中外合作办学机构。
人才培养与社会服务体系
学校坚持「德才兼备、全面发展、通专平衡、追求卓越」的人才培养理念，构建了创新人才培养体系。现有普通全日制本科生 15244 名、全日制硕士研究生 8693 名、全日制博士研究生 5478 名、在站博士后 622 名。学校创设的科技小院研究生人才培养模式已上升为国家行动，目前全国共建设 226 个科技小院、310 个教授工作站、6 个地方产业研究院、7 个地方乡村振兴研究院和 23 个校外实验站，与大北农集团、华为技术有限公司、腾讯科技（深圳）有限公司等大型企业开展实质性合作，形成了「三院两站一体系」的社会服务网络。
Historical Roots and Founding Legacy
China Agricultural University (CAU), directly under the Ministry of Education, traces its origins to the Agricultural College of the Imperial University of Peking established in 1905. In September 1995, Beijing Agricultural University and Beijing Agricultural Engineering University merged to form CAU, with the school name personally inscribed by President Jiang Zemin. On 15 October 2025, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a letter to all faculty and students celebrating the university’s 120th anniversary. CAU is regarded as the cradle of modern Chinese agricultural higher education, with Zhong Denghua serving as Party Secretary and Chen Wei as President.
Disciplinary System and College Architecture
CAU has evolved into a research-intensive university with distinctive strengths in agriculture, life sciences, agricultural engineering, and food science. It comprises 19 colleges, 1 teaching unit, and 1 directly-administered department spanning 9 academic disciplines including agronomy, engineering, science, economics, management, law, literature, arts, and interdisciplinary studies. In the Ministry of Education’s 4th-round discipline evaluation, 6 first-level disciplines received A+ ratings, ranking 6th among all Chinese universities. CAU hosts 22 postdoctoral stations, 27 doctoral and 40 master’s first-level discipline programs, 81 undergraduate majors, and 15 ESI top-1% disciplines, with Agricultural Sciences and Plant & Animal Sciences ranked in the global top 0.01%.
Research Platforms and Landmark Achievements
CAU operates a research ecosystem of 20 national-level platforms including 11 State Key Laboratories, 1 national major science and technology infrastructure facility, 2 national engineering technology research centers, and 3 national field scientific observation stations, complemented by 137 provincial/ministerial-level platforms. In 1993, the late Academician Shi Yuanchun led the research on comprehensive management of mid-low yielding areas of the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, which received the State Science and Technology Progress Special Award. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, CAU has earned 37 national and 331 ministerial science and technology awards, and published 40 high-impact papers as first or corresponding author in Cell, Nature, and Science.
International Cooperation and A5 Alliance
CAU has established partnerships with over 260 universities, research institutions, and international organizations across 50+ countries spanning Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the Americas. As a key node in its world-class university strategy, CAU co-founded the World Top Agricultural Universities Alliance (A5) with Cornell University, Wageningen University, University of California Davis, and University of São Paulo, and continues to expand the A5+N framework. The CAU-USP Joint College is the first Sino-Latin American joint education institution, which has already produced 47 graduates awarded dual master’s degrees.
Talent Development and Social Service Network
Following the philosophy of integrated moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor development, CAU enrolls 15,244 full-time undergraduates, 8,693 master’s students, 5,478 doctoral students, and 622 postdoctoral researchers. The university’s signature Science and Technology Courtyard graduate training model has been elevated to a national initiative, with 226 courtyards, 310 professor workstations, 6 regional industrial research institutes, 7 rural revitalization academies, and 23 off-campus experimental stations forming the Three Academies Two Stations One System service network. CAU collaborates with major industry partners including Dabeinong Group, Huawei Technologies, and Tencent on substantive technology transfer programs.
