英国 园丁慈善机构 Perennial – 英国唯一园艺慈善资源平台

英国园丁慈善机构 Perennial 创立于 1839 年 1 月 17 日，最初名为 Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society（园丁皇家慈善会），成立的目的是为那些毕生在庄园和公共花园里做低薪劳作、没有积蓄度过晚年的园丁们筹一笔退休金。今天的 Perennial 已经把服务对象扩展到园艺师、园林设计师、场地维护员、树木外科医生、草坪种植者、公园与花园工作人员，以及所有在英国从事或退出园艺行业的人及其家人——它是目前英国唯一一家专门服务于整个园艺行业的慈善机构。

除提供线下的咨询、援助金、身心健康支持、退休规划外，Perennial 还托管着三座对外开放的花园：约克门 York Gate、富勒斯磨坊 Fullers Mill，以及位于赫里福德郡的 The Laskett 拉斯基特。下面逐一介绍。

关于 Perennial

Perennial 提供两类核心服务：一类是面向个人的保密咨询、身心健康支持、紧急救助金、退休规划、丧亲与关系变故期间的心理疏导；另一类是面向行业雇主的资源中心（Employers Resource Hub），帮助花圃、园林公司和地方议会建立更可持续的用工与员工关怀体系。Perennial 同时运营一家面向园艺爱好者的网店，销售由园艺从业者挑选的园艺用品，收入同样回流到慈善项目。

York Gate 约克门花园

约克门花园位于英格兰西约克郡 Leeds 附近 Adel 村，占地一英亩，由 Spencer 家族自 1951 年起到 1994 年间一手设计并培育。Frederick 和 Sybil Spencer 夫妇与儿子 Robin 一起在一片农地上亲手布置出 14 个彼此相连的独立园室，细节考究，深受英国工艺美术运动影响。Sybil Spencer 于 1994 年遵照她生前的意愿，把花园留给了 Perennial。这座花园被列入英格兰遗产名录（National Heritage List），认定为二级登录建筑（Grade II）。

约克门花园的色彩随季节推移：春夏季以郁金香、饱满的花境、热带观叶植物和多浆植物为主，秋冬季靠黄杨造型和顶饰图案撑住骨架，最后压轴的是成片的雪滴花和冬末先开的球根花卉。

Fullers Mill 富勒斯磨坊花园

富勒斯磨坊花园坐落在英格兰萨福克郡（Suffolk）百灵河（River Lark）畔，占地约 7 英亩，由已故的 Bernard Tickner MBE（1924—2017）从 1958 年起用了半个多世纪在一片粗糙的灌木地和林地上亲手创建。他和他的妻子 Bess 在 2004 年将花园捐给了注册慈善机构 The Fullers Mill Trust 进行保护，2013 年交给 Perennial 接手长期管理。

花园最打动人的地方是它的林地：河岸一侧的光斑透过高大的乔木洒下来，落在一片又一片稀有的灌木、百合、多年生植物和精心配置的花境上。这是一座真正意义上的四季花园——即便在冬天，仍然有树皮、骨架和常绿结构可看。

The Laskett 拉斯基特花园

拉斯基特位于英格兰赫里福德郡（Herefordshire）Much Birch 附近，靠近威尔士边境，是 Sir Roy Strong 爵士和他已故妻子 Julia Trevelyan Oman CBE 共同建造的自传式花园。1973 年他们买下这片土地后，从一片光裸的农地起步营造，一直持续了三十年。每一处景致都对应他们两人在艺术与人文圈的交游与友谊——这是一座真正意义上的”读得懂主人故事”的花园。

Sir Roy Strong 在 2015 年宣布把拉斯基特遗赠给 Perennial，慈善机构在 2021 年正式接收。2026 年初，Perennial 公开表示由于访客数量持续下降、园内缺乏必要的访客设施，董事会已经一致决定只能探索出售的可能性，整座花园连同庄园同年挂牌市场。

Perennial, the UK’s only charity dedicated to people working in horticulture, has been offering free, confidential advice and financial, practical and emotional support to horticulturists and their families since 1839. Originally founded as the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society, today the organisation helps everyone from self-employed gardeners and nursery staff to landscape designers, groundskeepers, tree surgeons, parks officers and people retiring out of the trade.

York Gate Garden

A magical one-acre garden near Leeds, West Yorkshire, York Gate was created by the Spencer family between 1951 and 1994. Frederick and Sybil Spencer, together with their son Robin, shaped fourteen interconnected garden rooms inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. Following Sybil’s wishes, the garden was given to Perennial in 1994. It is listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England, and is celebrated for its colour in spring and summer, topiary in autumn and snowdrop finales in winter.

Fullers Mill Garden

Set on the banks of the River Lark in Suffolk, Fullers Mill is a seven-acre plantsman’s garden created by the late Bernard Tickner MBE (1924–2017). Tickner moved to the property in 1958 and over more than fifty years turned rough scrub and woodland into a serene four-season garden of rare shrubs, lilies, herbaceous perennials and woodland plantings. Tickner and his wife Bess donated the garden to the Fullers Mill Trust in 2004, and in 2013 Perennial accepted it for long-term stewardship.

The Laskett

The Laskett, near Much Birch in Herefordshire close to the Welsh border, was created over thirty years by Sir Roy Strong and his late wife Julia Trevelyan Oman CBE after they purchased the land in 1973. Often described as an autobiographical garden, it commemorates the couple’s friendships and shared life in the arts. Sir Roy announced in 2015 that he would bequeath The Laskett to Perennial, and the charity formally accepted the gift in 2021. In 2026 Perennial announced that the garden would not reopen for the season and listed the property for sale as a single lot.

Perennial runs a free, confidential helpline during opening hours, handles referrals from employers, and welcomes donations, legacies, volunteer mentors and corporate fundraising partnerships. The charity also operates an online shop selling gardener-chosen gifts, with all proceeds feeding back into horticultural welfare work.
