协会沿革与组织定位
大亚特兰大月季（玫瑰）协会（Greater Atlanta Rose Society，简称 GARS）成立于 1957 年，是美国大亚特兰大都市区历史最悠久的植物协会，同时是美国月季（玫瑰）协会（American Rose Society，总部位于路易斯安那州什里夫波特）在大亚特兰大地区的分会。协会是一家经美国国税局认证的 501(c)3 非营利教育组织，长期以“鼓励、欣赏并分享对国花——月季的栽培”为使命，将来自亚特兰大都会区的业余与专业月季种植者凝聚为一个包容的社区。
总部活动与年度花展
协会的核心活动基地是与卡特中心（Carter Center）合作维护的卡特中心玫瑰园（Carter Center Rose Garden），地址位于亚特兰大东北区 453 John Lewis Freedom Pkwy NE——这是一座完全对公众免费开放的无农药喷洒玫瑰园，是亚特兰大地区了解月季品种与栽培知识的公共窗口。年度旗舰活动是每年五月举办的母亲节月季展（Mother’s Day Rose Show），2025 年于亚特兰大植物园（Atlanta Botanical Gardens，1345 Piedmont Ave NE）举行两日展期，2026 年则定名为“Dreams in Bloom”主题；此外每月例会、会员专享的玫瑰栽培技术分享会、面向新手的月季入门工作坊均持续向公众开放，会员与一般公众均可参加。
教育研究与会员服务
协会的双月刊数字会刊《The Phoenix》连续多年被美国月季协会评为会刊类“最佳之一”，内容涵盖月季养护技术、本地品种展示、园丁经验分享与精美摄影，每期对会员免费推送，普通公众也可下载试读一期；会员还可获得协会专属的徽章、年度活动日历以及向 ARS 注册月季专家咨询师（Consulting Rosarians）和资深专家咨询师（Master Rosarians）提问的权益。
社区活动与学术荣誉
协会长期与亚特兰大植物园、罗斯威尔公共图书馆（Roswell Public Library）等本地机构合作开展社区教育项目，并在 2024–2026 年间持续获得美国月季协会地方分会荣誉认可；2026 年母亲节月季展主题“Dreams in Bloom”将延续这一传统，与其他分会联合评选年度最佳月季品种。协会现任市场副总裁兼《The Phoenix》主编 Christopher Huffer 同时是注册咨询师，会员与非会员均可通过 hello@atlantarose.org 取得联系。

Heritage and Organizational Mission
The Greater Atlanta Rose Society (GARS), founded in 1957, is the oldest plant society in the Atlanta metropolitan area and a local chapter of the American Rose Society (headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana). The organization is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to encouraging, enjoying, and sharing the cultivation of the rose—America’s national flower—across its many varieties.
Headquarters Activities and Annual Show
GARS maintains the public Carter Center Rose Garden in partnership with The Carter Center (453 John Lewis Freedom Pkwy NE, Atlanta) and hosts its annual Mother’s Day Rose Show each May; the 2025 show was held at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, while the 2026 edition carries the theme “Dreams in Bloom”. Monthly meetings, novice-friendly workshops, and a members-only program of in-depth rose care talks round out the year-round calendar.
Education, Research, and Member Services
Members receive The Phoenix, the bimonthly digital magazine rated “best of” by the American Rose Society, as well as access to ARS-certified Consulting Rosarians and Master Rosarians for one-on-one advice. Public readers may also download a complimentary issue.
Community Programs and Academic Honors
The society partners with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Roswell Public Library, and other regional rose societies to deliver community programs and host the annual rose show.
