Maveridge International B.V.

Maveridge International B.V.

Starting as a specialist nursery in 1994

Maveridge International B.V. is a Dutch bulb nursery and exporter, incorporated in 1994 and based in Sint Maarten, North Holland. The company positions itself as a specialised flowerbulb nursery — growing and exporting in one operation — with two customer groups: gardens, and professional greenhouse growers. Beyond bulbs it provides technical advice and counselling to customers worldwide, and on request offers third-party sales and marketing services.

In-house breeding with disease resistance first

The company runs its own breeding and development centre on site, improving tulips, irises and daffodils to keep producing exclusive varieties. Since 2000 the breeding programme has been directed squarely at sustainability, working on resistance and tolerance to fusarium and viruses. In the company’s own words it is already less chemical dependent, with the goal of becoming chemical free in future crops. Everything grown at the nursery comes from that in-house breeding programme.

Export built around three customer types

Shipping covers both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, going direct to customers as well as through several third-party partners. The main destinations include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Hungary, Taiwan, Israel, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Products divide by use: dry sale bulbs for gardens, sold to wholesalers, horticultural importers, catalogue and direct marketing companies, garden centres and big box chains; half or fully treated bulbs for cut flower production, supplied year-round to wholesalers and greenhouse growers; and treated bulbs for pot plant production. Specialised holiday crops form a further line.

A variety range for the landscape market

For the landscape market the company has built a separate range, mainly tulips, irises and daffodils, including the Delight series, Spryng Break Mix, Paintbrush, Dafeng, the Istanbul and Exotic Emperor crosses, and Tres Chic Festival. On the trademark side it holds concept and series marks such as Amsterfarm, Amsterdam Tulip Farm, Blooming Colors, Instant Blooms, Natural Bulbs, Table Top Tulips and Spring-Pac, plus variety marks including Baby Boomer, Blue Moon, Orange Monarch and Tete Deluxe — all officially registered and not to be used without written permission.

Certification, associations and sustainability

The company has held MPS certification since 2017, and from that point all products sold worldwide carry it; it is now working on upgrading to MPS Global-Gap. It also belongs to several associations organised by product group: the Trendsetter group handles production, marketing and sales of Spryng and the Delight tulip varieties; the Spectrum group covers exclusive fragrant daffodils; the Omniris group specialises in distinctive iris varieties for the cut flower trade. Two further memberships are Holland Hydra, which distributes hydroponic trays, and Tulip Creations, a breeding and development company working on new tulip varieties.
