沿革与机构
公益社団法人日本造園学会（Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture，简称 JILA）是日本历史最悠久的造园学专业学术团体，1925 年 4 月 14 日经文部省批准成立，2012 年 4 月 1 日转为公益社団法人。学会的宗旨是在传统园林绿化积累的技术与文化基础上，建立现代造园学的理论体系和科学架构。现有约 2,200 名会员，会员来自大学的造园学研究者、国土交通省和地方政府的园林行政官员，以及私营造园建设公司、咨询机构和设计事务所的实务工作者。从大正十四年（1925 年）创立至今已整整走过 100 年。同年 11 月，机关刊物《造園学雑誌》创刊号面世。1949 年学会启动学会赏制度。1966 年关西支部成立，是最早的区域支部。此后 1982 年关东支部、1993 年九州支部、1997 年北海道支部、2002 年东北支部、2003 年中部支部相继成立，六个支部共同覆盖日本全国。1982 年起学会增设上原敬二赏，1985 年引入研究奖励赏（本间启赏）。1994 年学会刊物更名为《ランドスケープ研究》（《景观研究》），并延续至今。
学术活动与出版物
学会每年春季举办为期三天的全国大会，内容包括见学、创意竞赛、论坛、研究发表、海报展示、企划展示、迷你论坛等多项议程。秋季则由北海道、东北、关东、中部、关西、九州六大支部分别召开支部大会。刊物方面，《ランドスケープ研究》每年发行 4 期，刊载研究论文、综述和学会活动报告；研究发表论文集每年一册；优秀设计作品选集和技术报告集则隔年交替发行。2005 年学会实施 CPD（Continuing Professional Development，继续教育）制度。学术交流方面，学会与韩国造景学会（KSLA）、中国风景园林学会（CHSLA）保持定期的国际交流机制。
社会贡献与 100 周年纪念
学会一直积极参与社会贡献活动，包括就公园绿地的保护和管理向政府提交意见书和提案，并在 2011 年东日本大地震后持续开展国土与地域复兴相关的调研和造园规划提案。2017 年，学会与公益财团法人城市绿化机构启动联合连载企划，以「景观设计师能为明日的城市贡献什么」为题展开对谈。2025 年是学会创立 100 周年，纪念事业推进委员会下设出版部会、纪念行幸部会和基础设施部会，分别承担 100 年学会资产的记录与传承、未来学科发展方向的展望，以及学会活动信息基础设施的整备三项工作。学会还与日本造园建設業協会（日造協）、城市绿化机构、景观顾问协会（CLA）、一级造园施工管理技士会（一造会）、公园管理运营士会、日本造园组合联合会等 6 个产官学民团体签定了包括协定。
学术奖励体系
学会设有四类学术奖励：日本造园学会赏（含论文、著作、设计作品、技术、事业・マネジメント五类）、日本造园学会奖励赏、上原敬二赏、田村刚赏。其中田村刚赏专门面向自然公园和自然保护方向的研究与实务贡献。当学会认为有特别值得表彰的业绩时，还会通过理事会决议授予特别赏。颁奖典礼在次年度的总会上举行，授予表彰状和奖牌。日本造园学会同时与日本造园建設業協会（日造協）、一级造园施工管理技士会（一造会）等保持着长期合作，使学术成果与造园实务相互衔接。
组织基础
学会以公益社团法人身份运营，会员覆盖大学、行政机关、咨询与设计实务界等多元背景。理事会下设学会赏等选考委员会，负责各类奖励的评审工作。截至目前，学会出版事业涵盖机关刊物、论文集、作品选集、技术报告集等系列，并已逐步推进电子化以便研究者与实务人士检索利用。
Centenary History and Branch Network
The Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture (JILA) is Japan’s oldest and largest scholarly society dedicated to landscape architecture. Founded in 1925 as a corporate body and re-registered as a Public Interest Incorporated Association in 2012, JILA today brings together some 2,200 members spanning university researchers, national and local government officials, and practitioners from private landscape construction firms, consultancies, and design studios across the country. The Institute was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education on 14 April 1925 and launched its first journal, the Journal of Japanese Institute of Landscape Architects (Zōen Gakukashi), in November of the same year. Over the following century it founded its Awards system (1949), opened the Kansai Branch (1966) as the first regional chapter, and went on to add the Kantō, Kyūshū, Hokkaidō, Tōhoku, and Chūbu branches between 1982 and 2003 to cover all of Japan. The Institute also renamed its flagship journal to Landscape Research (Randosukēpu Kenkyū) in 1994, the title under which it continues to publish.
Annual Conferences and Publications
Each spring JILA hosts a three-day national congress featuring study tours, idea competitions, forums, research presentations, poster sessions, and exhibitions. In autumn the six regional branches hold their own meetings in turn. The Institute publishes Landscape Research quarterly, an annual proceedings volume, and alternating biennial collections of design work and technical reports. JILA introduced a CPD programme in 2005 and maintains regular scholarly exchange with the Korean Society of Landscape Architecture and the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture.
Public Engagement and the 100th Anniversary
The Institute actively contributes to public discourse through policy proposals on the conservation and management of parks and green space, and since the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami it has continued to field surveys and planning recommendations for regional recovery. From 2017 JILA has run a joint dialogue series with the Urban Green Space Development Foundation on the role of the landscape architect in the city of tomorrow. In 2025 the Institute marks its centenary under a dedicated committee with three working groups: publications, commemorative events, and information infrastructure. Through partnership agreements with six industry and government bodies — the Japan Landscape Contractors Association, the Urban Green Space Development Foundation, the Association of Landscape Consultants, the National Conference of First-Class Landscape Construction Management Engineers, the Association of Park Management Specialists, and the National Federation of Landscape Contractors — JILA links academic research with practice across the discipline.
Awards and Governance
JILA confers four principal awards: the JILA Award (covering research, publications, design work, technology, and project management), the JILA Encouragement Award, the Uehara Keiji Award, and the Tamura Takeshi Award (focused on natural parks and conservation). Special awards may also be granted by resolution of the Board of Directors. Ceremonies take place at the following year’s General Meeting, where recipients receive a certificate and a medal.
Institutional Foundation
Operating as a Public Interest Incorporated Association, JILA unites university researchers, government officials, and practitioners from consultancies and design studios under a single professional umbrella. Through its Board, its Awards Selection Committee, and a growing portfolio of publications — now increasingly available in digital form — the Institute continues to advance landscape architecture as both an academic discipline and a professional practice in Japan.
