德国仙人掌协会(Deutsche Kakteen-Gesellschaft e. V.,简称DKG)成立于1892年12月5日,总部位于德国。协会由时任柏林-达勒姆植物园管理员的卡尔·舒曼教授(Karl Schumann)创立,至今已走过130余年历程。DKG是德国最具影响力的仙人掌与多肉植物爱好者组织之一,在国内外拥有约4,500名会员,涵盖植物学家、资深爱好者及业余收藏者等广泛群体。

The Deutsche Kakteen-Gesellschaft e. V. (DKG) was founded on December 5, 1892, in Berlin by Professor Karl Schumann, then curator of the Botanic Garden in Berlin-Dahlem. With over 130 years of history, DKG has grown into one of Germany’s most influential societies for cactus and succulent enthusiasts, serving approximately 4,500 members in Germany and abroad—including botanists, dedicated hobbyists, and casual collectors.

About the Society

As a professional hobbyist organization, DKG promotes the development of cactaceae and various succulent plants in both recreational and academic fields. The society maintains approximately 100 local groups across Germany, offering members platforms for face-to-face exchange and experience sharing. DKG also disseminates knowledge through its official website to raise public awareness about the conservation of these unique plant groups.

Membership Benefits

Full members enjoy extensive benefits: 12 issues annually of the professional journal “KuaS” featuring cultivation guides, travel reports, and event information; free access to the society’s library of German and foreign-language specialist literature; discounted purchases of annual calendars and special publications; and participation in the annual seed distribution program to acquire rare seeds at minimal cost. Publications and Research Resources

Annual Activities

Since 2008, the society has annually selected the “Cactus of the Year” (Kaktus des Jahres), with selections including Copiapoa cinerea for 2026, Stenocereus eruca for 2025, and Aporocactus flagelliformis for 2024, aiming to enhance public understanding and conservation awareness of cacti and succulents.
