历史与品牌
Staudengärtnerei Eidmann 位于德国黑森州 Groß-Umstadt 行政区 Semd 村,苗圃的红色椭圆 logo 印着「KARL EIDMANN — SEIT 1914」三行字,表明这一家族品牌早在 1914 年即已创立。现在的苗圃主体由 Thomas 与 Sigrid Eidmann 夫妇在约 1986 年前后于自家小型农场上改建而成,夫妻俩在此后近 40 年里把苗圃从家庭副业一步步扩展为家族主业;2023 年 9 月起由第二代 David Eidmann 接手经营,延续手工繁殖、露天栽培、低肥料用量的传统做法。
位置与生产规模
苗圃坐落在达姆施塔特 (Darmstadt) 与奥登林山 (Odenwald) 之间的 Semd 村,占地约 1 公顷,采用露天大田加温室扦插的方式繁殖。庭院里一座半木结构老屋保留至今,让人回想起 Thomas 一家当年小农户经营的旧时光。当前苗圃是 Groß-Umstadt 行政区唯一的专业多年生植物专营苗圃,紧邻「黑森—莱茵—美因」(Hessen-Rhein-Main) 大都市圈,北面是法兰克福、东南面是海德堡,自驾或乘公共交通都能在 1 小时内到达。
苗圃产品与公共教育合作
主营产品包括本土野生多年生草本 (Wildstauden)、耐候性强的庭院多年生 (Beetstauden)、观赏草 (Gräser)、耐阴蕨类 (Farne) 以及气候适应性岩石园植物 (Steingartenpflanzen) 等若干大类。苗圃与本地 NABU Rödermark 生物学家 Doris Lerch 合作开发了「野生多年生植物箱」(Die Wilde Pflanzenkiste) 项目,把适合 12 平方米花圃的三套本土植物混搭方案介绍给普通家庭园丁,鼓励大家在自家庭院里为蜜蜂、蝴蝶、鸟类留出一小块栖息地。
开放周末、周六导览与工作坊
每年 9 月初的「Offenes Wochenende」是苗圃最大规模的活动:2026 年定在 9 月 5 日与 6 日两天 9:00-18:00 举行,设有 Stauden 主题讲座、家庭花艺、儿童植物课堂与多家本地手作市集参展。常规活动方面,Sigrid Eidmann 每个星期六上午 9:00 都会用约半小时带访客走一遍苗圃的展示花圃,围绕当下时令的植物展开讲解;每年还开办三个不同主题的工作坊 (Workshops),内容覆盖多年生植物剪枝、阿尔卑斯岩盆制作与季节性花艺。
协会身份与近年荣誉
苗圃是德国本土园艺协会 Naturgarten e.V. 与「德国多年生植物种植者联合会」(Bund deutscher Staudengärtner, BdS) 的注册会员,也积极参与 GdS 南黑森分会以及蝙蝠保护组织 Fledermausschutz Südhessen 的活动。在黑森州评审奖 (Hessischer Jurypreis) 评选中,苗圃于 2024 年获颁「金狮奖」(Goldener Löwe),2025 年再获「银狮奖」(Silberner Löwe),以表彰其在多年生植物零售与公众园艺教育方面的长期贡献。
History & Brand
Staudengärtnerei Eidmann is a family-run perennial nursery in Semd, part of the town of Groß-Umstadt in the German state of Hesse. Its red-oval logo carries the three-line inscription “KARL EIDMANN — SEIT 1914”, marking the family brand established in 1914. The present-day nursery was rebuilt on a former small farmstead by Thomas and Sigrid Eidmann around 1986, and over nearly forty years they grew it into a dedicated perennial business. Since September 2023, the second-generation owner David Eidmann has run the nursery, continuing the family’s traditional hand-propagation, open-field cultivation and minimal-fertiliser approach.
Location & Production Scale
The nursery sits in Semd, between the city of Darmstadt and the Odenwald low mountain range, and covers approximately one hectare of open-field and cutting-bench production. A half-timbered farmhouse still stands in the courtyard, recalling the smallholder farm that Thomas’s family once ran. It is the only dedicated perennial nursery in the Groß-Umstadt district and lies within easy reach of the Hessen-Rhein-Main metropolitan area — Frankfurt is to the north and Heidelberg to the southeast, both reachable within about an hour by road.
Plant Range & Citizen-Science Cooperation
The nursery’s main lines are native wild perennials (Wildstauden), hardy border perennials (Beetstauden), ornamental grasses (Gräser), shade-tolerant ferns (Farne) and climate-resilient rock-garden plants (Steingartenpflanzen). In cooperation with local NABU Rödermark biologist Doris Lerch, the nursery developed “Die Wilde Pflanzenkiste”, three ready-made mixes of native perennials sized for a 12-square-metre bed, aimed at helping home gardeners set aside a small habitat patch for bees, butterflies and birds.
Open Weekend, Saturday Tours & Workshops
The annual Open Weekend (Offenes Wochenende) is the nursery’s flagship event: in 2026 it will be held on 5 and 6 September, 9:00–18:00, with perennial-themed talks, family floristry and a small market of regional artisans. As a regular fixture, Sigrid Eidmann leads a roughly half-hour guided walk through the display beds every Saturday at 9:00, focusing on the perennials in season that week. Three themed workshops are also run each year, covering topics such as perennial pruning, alpine trough planting and seasonal floristry.
Memberships & Recent Awards
The nursery is a registered member of the German native-gardening association Naturgarten e.V. and the Bund deutscher Staudengärtner (BdS), and takes part in the activities of the GdS southern-Hessen chapter and Fledermausschutz Südhessen (the southern Hesse bat-conservation group). In the Hessischer Jurypreis (Hessian jury prize), the nursery received the Goldener Löwe (Golden Lion) in 2024 and the Silberner Löwe (Silver Lion) in 2025, recognising its long-standing contribution to perennial retail and public horticultural education.
