关于 Avant Gardens

创始人

Chris Tracey是新英格兰地区资深的石雕工匠，精通新英格兰和英伦三岛传统干石墙建造修复技艺，长期为当地保护组织和工作坊提供技术指导。其石雕工艺将人、植物与石材有机融合，赋予景观独特的动态美感。

植物品种

Avant Gardens以稀有和不常见植物选品为核心优势。苗圃提供丰富品种，包括：多年生植物（Perennials）——涵盖紫堇属（Dicentra）、淫羊藿属（Epimedium）、乌头属（Aconitum）等阴生宿根花卉；本土植物（Native Plants）；容器植物（Container Plants）；多肉植物（Succulents），温室常年备有外来多肉和稀有室内观叶植物；室内植物（House Plants）；乔木灌木（Trees and Shrubs）；真一年生植物（True Annuals），指从种子快速生长的传统一年生花卉（如紫萝兰属 Cleome、烟草属 Nicotiana、百日菊 Zinnia、青锁龙属 Celosia），以区别于不耐寒的多年生植物。苗圃不使用新烟碱类杀虫剂，采用有机种植方式。

参观苗圃

苗圃本身即是一座花园。游客可沿小径漫步，发现新植物并获取搭配种植灵感。灵感激发后，可在销售区浏览各类稀有植物和珍稀乔木、灌木、多年生植物及乡村花园一年生植物。温室中备有外来多肉植物和易于养护的稀有室内观叶植物。苗圃5月至6月营业时间为周一至周六9:00-16:30，纪念日（5/25）休息。

Founders

Chris Tracey is a studied builder who understands the rhythm of stone in the natural landscape of New England. As a master stone artisan, he uses traditional techniques documented in New England and the British Isles. He has led dry stone workshops for local and state property conservation interests and conducted lectures for both private and trade organizations. His work as a craftsman and instructor is widely praised and respected.

Katherine Tracey, formally trained as a painter and textile designer, has had her appreciation for color and pattern inform her passion for horticulture. For over 30 years, she has been experimenting with the unexpected on the grounds of Avant Gardens, and her innovative designs have earned many notable honors. Driven by a life motto to grow everything at least once, she has cultivated a design aesthetic that incorporates the best uncommon plants for the New England landscape. Katherine has been a featured lecturer at Wave Hill, Ladew Topiary Gardens, The Horticultural Society of Maryland, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, the New York Botanic Garden, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and many other gardening events. She has contributed articles and photography to Fine Gardening Magazine and posts regularly in the blog Garden Foreplay.

Plant Selections

Avant Gardens is renowned for its curated selection of uncommon and rare plants. The nursery offers a diverse range of categories: Perennials — including Dicentra, Epimedium, Aconitum and other shade-loving herbaceous plants; Native Plants; Container Plants; Succulents — the greenhouse is stocked year-round with exotic succulents and uncommon but easy-to-grow houseplants; House Plants; Trees and Shrubs; and True Annuals — referring to traditional annual seed strains (such as Cleome, Nicotiana, Zinnia, Celosia), distinguished from tender perennials. The nursery does not use neonicotinoids and employs organic growing methods on their property.

Visit the Nursery

Avant Gardens’ nursery is itself a garden to wander. Visitors can explore paths to discover new plants and gain inspiration for planting combinations. Once inspired, the sales yard offers an array of uncommon and rare trees, shrubs, perennials, and cottage garden annuals. The greenhouse is stocked with exotic succulents and uncommon but easy-to-grow houseplants. The nursery is open Monday through Saturday 9:00-4:30 from May through June, closed on Memorial Day (5/25).
