加拿大蕨类志愿者图鉴

Ontario Ferns 网站由加拿大安大略省的 Walter Muma 长期个人维护，定位为安大略省蕨类的”在线野外图鉴”。网站不卖植物，也不靠广告营利，作者把站点作为对自然科学爱好者开放的资料库。站内所有照片除特别注明外均为 Walter Muma 本人拍摄，文字资料以非学术、易于现场查阅为编写原则。

四十七种已收录的安大略蕨类

截至最近更新，网站已收录 47 种蕨类，并明确列出 24 种”尚未上线”的安大略蕨类，主要原因是暂无野外照片。已收录的种类覆盖常见观赏蕨与稀有品种，包括圣诞蕨、香鳞毛蕨、掌叶铁线蕨、鳞毛蕨属、蹄盖蕨属、球茎蕨、紫柄蕨等。每种都附多张野外照片、生境、叶片分裂特征以及与相似种的区分要点。

多种检索入口与识别口诀

网站提供十余种检索入口：常用名、拉丁名、法语名、命名搜索、属、科、组、叶片分裂次数、轮廓剪影、术语表、生境等。其中”叶片分裂次数”按未分裂、一回、二回、三回四档把蕨类排序，帮助初学者按形态快速定位。术语表页面用大量图片解释孢子、孢子囊群、囊群盖等专用名词，降低了普通爱好者入门门槛。

推荐书单与标本馆合作

Booklist 页面从新手友好到深入研究分级列出多本北美蕨类参考书，开篇强力推荐 Owen Sound Field Naturalists 出版的《The Ferns of Grey & Bruce Counties》，该书覆盖安大略绝大多数蕨类，包含照片、轮廓图和描述。多个物种页引用了皇家植物园（Burlington, Ontario）标本馆的腊叶标本照片，作为叶片、根系和整株对比的参考资料。

命名规范与站点维护节奏

网站物种命名 2014 年 11 月升级至加拿大权威植物数据库 VASCAN 规范，作者在 What’s New 板块记录每次更新。维护方式强调尊重第三方版权，使用站内材料前需先取得作者授权。除此之外，Walter Muma 还维护 Ontario Wildflowers、Ontario Grasses 等同类站点，构成一套完整的安大略野花野草系列图鉴。

An Ontario Volunteer Fern Field Guide

Ontario Ferns is a long-running personal website created and maintained by Walter Muma in Ontario, Canada. It positions itself as an “online field guide” to the ferns that grow in Ontario and is not a commercial nursery or a botanical journal. Photographs on the site are taken by Walter Muma unless credited otherwise, and the text is written for non-specialist naturalists who want to identify ferns in the field.

Forty-Seven Ferns Currently Online

The site lists 47 fern species as currently online and notes 24 additional Ontario ferns still to be added, mostly because the author has not yet photographed them in the wild. The species covered range from very common ferns such as Bracken, Christmas Fern, and Marginal Shield Fern to less familiar ones in genera such as Dryopteris, Athyrium, Cystopteris, and Botrychium. Each entry typically includes multiple habitat photos, leaf-division cues, and notes on similar species.

Many Search Paths and a Beginner-Friendly Glossary

Visitors can look up ferns by common name, Latin name, French name, name search, genus, family, group, leaf division, silhouette, habitat, or via an identification glossary. The leaf-division index sorts ferns into undivided, once-divided, twice-divided, and thrice-divided categories, which is the first cut most beginners use. The glossary page illustrates specialised terms such as spore, sporangium, sorus, and indusium with annotated photographs of the Marginal Shield Fern.

A Booklist and Herbarium References

The Booklist page ranks recommended fern books from beginner-friendly field guides to more detailed references, and strongly recommends “The Ferns of Grey & Bruce Counties” published by the Bruce-Grey Plant Committee of the Owen Sound Field Naturalists. Several species pages also incorporate herbarium specimens from the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario, showing whole plants, individual fronds, and root systems for comparison.

VASCAN Naming and a Network of Companion Sites

Site species names were updated to conform to the VASCAN Canadian plant naming standard in November 2014, and the What’s New section records ongoing edits. The site’s materials remain copyrighted by Walter Muma and other original contributors, and permission is asked before reuse.
