Welcome to the Ontario Wildflowers website
Your “online field guide” to Ontario’s wildflowers

This website is all about wildflowers that grow in Ontario (Canada). If you’re not from Ontario, don’t go away! Most of the plants featured on this website grow elsewhere in eastern North America, and many grow elsewhere in the world.

SPRING WILDFLOWERS!

Field Pussytoes (Antennaria neglecta)

For trees & shrubs, please visit the Ontario Trees & Shrubs website. For ferns, please visit the Ontario Ferns website. And for grasses, sedges, and rushes, please visit the Ontario Grasses website.

Where to go from here

The main body of this site consists of descriptions and photographs of numerous species of wildflowers. You can look up wildflowers by common name, scientific name, French name, family, flower colour, number of petals, habitat, season, trees & shrubs, edible/poisonous plants, native/alien plants, groups of species, or by page in Newcombe’s, Peterson’s, or the ROM wildflower field guide books. CLICK HERE.

Participate in discussions about Wildflowers in the Forums.
Get some help learning to identify wildflowers here.

The study of wildflowers is an ongoing process. To help me identify some plants I haven’t yet figured out, please see Mystery Plants.

I am maintaining a Plant List for some sites in my Site Inventories

A booklist of useful wildflower books is HERE, that you can buy at the BOOKSTORE.

There’s a number of articles about wildflowers from The Monday Garden.
