Welcome to Fancy Fronds Nursery. Spring shipping season began the first week in March, 2026, and will continue till June as weather allows. Our online fern inventory was updated April 11th, 2026, and will be continue to be updated into May as spring progresses and plants come out of dormancy. Please note that some items will not be available to ship until April 13th; our website will automatically provide a notification to confirm when you add these items to your cart. We are a small family run mail-order nursery in Gold Bar, Washington, specializing in hardy temperate ferns. Our nursery is open by appointment and we also ship seasonally to all 50 U.S. states. We offer a wide selection of ferns, including Hardy Temperate ferns, Victorian cultivars, Xeric (desert) ferns, Alpine Ferns, Tropical and Sub-Tropical Ferns, and close fern relatives like Spike-Mosses. Ferns are carefully removed from their pots and packed and shipped with their soil root ball during cool weather in the spring and fall to ensure they arrive safely and in good condition (we never bare root our ferns!). The standard size of our ferns is a 4” container, though larger specimens may be available for some items. Ferns are shipped via USPS Priority Mail, and shipping may be subject to seasonal conditions. We do not ship during the hottest part of the year, typically mid-July and August, or the coldest part of the winter, November-February. Shipping will resume the first week in March, 2026. Please take a moment to read our Shipping policies in the “FAQ” section of our website if you have any questions about shipping times or rates. Due to the base cost of shipping, we do recommend (but do not require) a $20 minimum order to maximize the number of ferns you will receive compared to the shipping cost of USPS Priority Mail. We are also more than happy to help you select ferns perfect for your USDA zone that will thrive in your garden.
