历史沿革
沈阳农业大学办学历史可追溯到 1906 年清政府设立的省立奉天农业学堂，此后历经奉天农业大学、东北大学农学院、沈阳农学院几个历史时期；1952 年全国高等院校调整，以复旦大学农学院与东北农学院部分系科为基础成立新的沈阳农学院。1979 年 10 月经国务院批准为全国重点高等院校，1981 年成为首批具有博士、硕士学位授予权单位，1985 年 10 月更名为沈阳农业大学，邓小平同志亲自为学校题写了校名；2000 年划转为以辽宁省管理为主、中央与地方共建的全国重点大学。
学科体系与重点学科
学校设有 16 个学院、4 个教学部（中心），拥有 9 个博士后科研流动站、11 个一级学科博士学位授权点、18 个一级学科硕士学位授权点与 44 个本科招生专业；有 3 个国家重点学科、3 个农业部重点学科、1 个国家林业和草原局重点学科，7 个学科入选辽宁省新一轮双一流建设学科，其中作物学入选世界一流学科建设对象，园艺学、农业资源与环境入选国内一流学科建设对象；农业科学、植物学与动物学、环境科学与生态学、工程学、化学、微生物学、生物学与生物化学 7 个学科进入 ESI 全球前 1%，其中农业科学学科进入 ESI 全球前 1‰。
师资队伍与人才培养
学校现有专任教师 1171 人，其中教授 305 人、副教授 433 人，博士生导师 277 人、硕士生导师 638 人；拥有中国工程院院士 2 人、国家杰出青年基金获得者 4 人、国家级教学名师 2 人，国家现代农业产业技术体系岗位科学家 15 人。现有在校生 21109 人，其中全日制本科生 14081 人、全日制硕士研究生 5723 人、全日制博士研究生 1101 人；建校以来累计输送本专科生及博士、硕士研究生 17 万余人。
科研平台与社会服务
学校拥有国家级研究中心、国家地方联合工程实验室、国家野外科学观测研究站、新农村发展研究院在内的省级以上科学研究机构 119 个、本科实验教学中心 19 个；十四五以来承担各级各类科研项目 5334 项，科研经费总额 17.45 亿元，其中主持国家重点研发计划项目 11 项、发表高水平论文 4310 篇。作为辽宁省唯一农业本科院校，学校始终瞄准农民的米袋子、菜篮子、果盘子、肉摊子、奶罐子等重大民生需求，自 1982 年辽宁省实行一二三工程以来在全省 14 个市 30 个县 100 多个乡镇设立科教基点。
校园文化与历史地位
学校坐落在沈阳市东陵路 120 号，校园占地面积 10246 亩，与世界文化遗产清福陵毗邻、沈水浑河相望，环境幽雅、风景秀丽、人文气息浓厚。学校先后荣获全国文明单位、全国文明校园、全国毕业生就业 50 所典型经验高校、全国模范职工之家、辽宁省先进基层党组织、辽宁省五一劳动奖状等荣誉称号；沈阳农学院时期著名水稻专家杨守仁教授开创的籼粳稻杂交育种研究，以及陈温福院士团队的北方超级稻、李天来院士团队的设施蔬菜、寒富苹果、新民草莓等科研成果已成为辽宁省的靓丽名片。
Historical Evolution
Shenyang Agricultural University traces its origins to the Provincial Fengtian Agricultural School established by the Qing government in 1906, later evolving through Fengtian Agricultural University, the Agricultural College of Northeastern University, and Shenyang Agricultural College stages; in 1952 the new Shenyang Agricultural College was formed by merging the agricultural college of Fudan University with selected departments of Northeast Agricultural College during the national higher-education restructuring. The institution was approved as a national key university in October 1979, became one of the first doctoral and master’s degree-granting units in 1981, was renamed Shenyang Agricultural University in October 1985 with the school name personally inscribed by Deng Xiaoping, and in 2000 was transferred to a central-local co-administration model led by Liaoning Province.
Discipline System and Key Disciplines
The university comprises 16 schools and 4 teaching divisions, offering 9 postdoctoral research stations, 11 first-level doctoral degree programs, 18 first-level master’s degree programs and 44 undergraduate majors; it hosts 3 national key disciplines, 3 Ministry of Agriculture key disciplines and 1 National Forestry and Grassland Administration key discipline, with 7 disciplines selected for Liaoning’s new round of double-first-class construction. Crop Science is included in the world-class discipline construction list, while Horticulture and Agricultural Resources and Environment are designated domestic first-class disciplines; 7 disciplines including Agricultural Sciences, Plant and Animal Sciences, Environmental Science and Ecology, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Biology and Biochemistry rank among the global top 1% in ESI, with Agricultural Sciences entering the global top 1‰.
Faculty and Talent Development
The university has 1171 full-time faculty members including 305 professors, 433 associate professors, 277 doctoral supervisors and 638 master’s supervisors, with 2 Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians, 4 National Distinguished Young Scholars recipients, 2 national-level teaching masters and 15 scientists of the national modern agricultural industrial technology system. Current enrollment totals 21109 students comprising 14081 full-time undergraduates, 5723 full-time master’s candidates, 1101 full-time doctoral candidates and 204 international students; since founding it has cultivated more than 170000 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates serving China’s agricultural modernization and rural revitalization.
Research Platforms and Social Services
The university operates 119 provincial-level or above scientific research institutions including national engineering research centers, national-local joint engineering laboratories, national field scientific observation stations and the New Rural Development Research Institute, plus 19 undergraduate experimental teaching centers; during the 14th Five-Year Plan period it has undertaken 5334 research projects at all levels with total research funding of 1.745 billion yuan, leading 11 national key R&D programs and publishing 4310 high-level papers. As the only agricultural undergraduate university in Liaoning Province, it has established science-education bases across 14 cities, 30 counties and over 100 townships since the launch of Liaoning’s 123 Project in 1982, with 339 science-technology dispatch teams and more than 650 dispatched experts serving the agricultural production frontline.
Campus Culture and Historical Position
Located at 120 Dongling Road in Shenyang, the campus covers 10246 mu, adjacent to the World Cultural Heritage Qing Zhaoling Mausoleum to the east and facing the Hun River to the south, with elegant environment and profound humanistic atmosphere. The university has successively been honored as a National Civilized Unit, National Civilized Campus, one of the National Top 50 Universities for Graduate Employment, National Model Worker’s Home, Liaoning Advanced Basic-level Party Organization, and Liaoning May 1st Labor Certificate recipient; landmark research achievements include Professor Yang Shouren’s pioneering indica-japonica rice hybridization breeding, Academician Chen Wenfu’s northern super rice team, Academician Li Tianlai’s facility vegetable team, and the cold-resistant Fuji apple, Xinmin strawberry, Faku cattle, Changtu pig, Heishan chicken and Xifeng deer varieties that have become signature agricultural brands of Liaoning Province.
