About the Utah Pond & Garden Club and the Wasatch Front region
The Utah Pond & Garden Club is a volunteer-based water gardening group serving the Wasatch Front region of Utah, including Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden, and Provo. The club holds monthly member events from March through October at rotating outdoor and exclusive host venues. Guests may attend individual monthly meetings for five dollars, while the annual Pond Tour remains a separately ticketed public event with no membership required. The single public contact address is utahwatergarden@gmail.com; the club does not list a phone line or street address.
Membership tiers, dues, and member benefits
Membership is offered as Individual at thirty-five US dollars per year and Family at forty-five US dollars per year. Benefits include a monthly newsletter with seasonal tips, monthly club meetings at varying outdoor or exclusive venues, advice from experienced pond keepers, invitations to the annual summer barbecue and end-of-year banquet, and plant exchanges and other social events. Family and Individual tiers share the same benefits and differ only in the number of household members covered. The club has run on annual dues since its founding; prior to the 2024 pricing update Individual membership was long kept at twenty US dollars per year.
Annual Pond Tour north and south routes
The signature event is the annual Pond Tour, a self-guided open-day across private ponds along the Wasatch Front. The Pond Tour usually runs on two Saturdays in August, covering a Northern Wasatch Front route and a Southern Wasatch Front route, each open from 9 am to 5 pm. Members attend free of charge; non-members can purchase single tickets for fifteen US dollars on site. Before the tour, registered visitors receive an electronic brochure describing the ponds on each route. Participants meet pond owners, see water features normally closed to the public, and enjoy refreshments at many stops. The club publicly recruits host ponds each year, typically featuring water lilies, koi, and small waterfalls.
Monthly meetings, talks, and field activities
Monthly meetings run from March to October, generally held at outdoor gardens, greenhouses, or partner venues. A typical evening opens with a garden or forest-bathing walk from 6 to 7 pm, followed by a featured talk and member social time from 7 to 8:30 pm. Talk topics include pond ecology and filtration, koi and aquatic plant care, mosquito abatement, native wildlife, and water conservation. Plant swaps, pond-equipment mini sales, raffles, and membership sign-ups run alongside. The annual calendar is published through the club newsletter; some portions remain member-only.
Sponsorship tiers, community partnerships, and public contact
The sponsorship program runs at three levels: Gold at one hundred fifty US dollars, Platinum at two hundred fifty US dollars, and Diamond at five hundred US dollars. Gold benefits include free admission to all club meetings, a logo on the club website, and a full-page advertisement in one monthly newsletter. Platinum adds a second newsletter page and two Pond Tour tickets; Diamond adds a third newsletter page and a two-person invitation to the annual banquet. Sponsorship seats are open to local garden centers, pond-equipment vendors, aquatic plant nurseries, and landscape firms, and help fund most of the club’s programming. Public inquiries, Pond Tour ticket requests, membership applications, sponsorship inquiries, and host-pond applications are all routed through utahwatergarden@gmail.com.
