协会定位与会员基础

基金会与公益延伸

NALP Foundation 是协会旗下的 501(c)(3) 公益分支，自 2000 年代初成立以来已运营二十余年，主要通过学者奖学金、行业研究项目以及 People First 多元、平等与包容倡议支持景观行业的长期人才储备。基金会自创立以来已通过捐赠渠道发放近 200 万美元学术奖学金，资助方向涵盖高校景观设计、园艺、企业管理等多个专业。基金会完全依靠捐赠维持运行，欢迎会员公司与个人捐助者全年定向支持，捐赠可在税法允许范围内享受税前扣除。

Association Identity and Membership Base

The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP), headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, is the largest trade association serving the United States landscape and lawn care industry. Its member companies work across six practice areas: lawn care, landscape design and installation, landscape maintenance, tree care, irrigation and water management, and interior plantscape. The membership also includes students, consultants, industry suppliers, state associations, and affiliate members. NALP operates as a 501(c)(6) trade association, having grown out of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), a nonprofit trade body formed in 1977 and renamed under the current identity in 2015.

Education, Training, and Professional Certification

NALP administers the Landscape Industry Certified Technician program, the Certified Landscape Manager credential, and the Certified Landscape Technician irrigation track, giving member companies a structured way to validate staff skills and signal professional commitment to clients. The Learning Hub, NALP’s online training platform, has bundled its full suite of technician and business manager online courses into the standard member benefit since 2025, allowing member companies to deliver standardized training at no additional per-seat cost. The Safety Tailgate Training Toolkit offers 62 ready-to-use safety meeting topics tailored to landscape field crews, and members may download the toolkit and other professional development resources from the association’s public resource pages.

Advocacy and Government Relations

NALP maintains a dedicated government relations team that represents the industry before Congress, federal agencies, and state-level regulators on labor rules, pesticide use, water resource policy, and guest-worker immigration. Each year the association hosts Legislative Day on the Hill, when member-company leaders travel to Washington, D.C. to meet their home-state legislators face to face; the event has run continuously since 2005 and remains one of the association’s signature policy activities. NALP also runs the Benefits of Landscapes public outreach program, producing campaign toolkits that explain the environmental, economic, and community value of well-managed green spaces; the toolkits are available on the association’s public pages for download.

Annual Events and Industry Recognition

NALP’s flagship gathering is ELEVATE, the national conference for landscape, design-build, and lawn care professionals, scheduled for early 2027. Leaders Forum is a smaller executive-level conference for landscape and lawn care CEOs, set for January 11-14, 2027 at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Charlottesville, Virginia. The National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) brings together the country’s top emerging talent, with the 2027 edition running March 17-20 at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio. The association also presents the annual Safety Recognition Awards, honoring member companies’ commitment to workplace safety, and the Awards of Excellence, recognizing outstanding landscape design, installation, and maintenance projects.

Foundation and Industry Giving

The NALP Foundation is a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has supported landscape industry education, research, and scholarships for more than two decades. Through the generosity of its donors the Foundation has awarded close to two million dollars in academic scholarships to students pursuing landscape, horticulture, and business management studies, and it runs the People First initiative, providing member companies with tools and frameworks to foster inclusive workplace cultures. The Foundation is funded entirely by contributions from member companies and individual donors, and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; details on giving and scholarship applications are published on the association’s foundation pages.
