协会沿革与定位

美国景观建筑师协会（American Society of Landscape Architects，简称 ASLA）成立于 1899 年，是代表全美景观建筑师行业的全国性专业协会。华盛顿州分会（Washington Chapter of ASLA，简称 WASLA）于 1973 年成立，前身可追溯至更早的华盛顿景观设计师协会（WSLA, 1946 年），目前会员规模在 400 人以上，覆盖整个华盛顿州。WASLA 与总会共用同一套章程框架，在州一级履行行业代表、专业教育与公共服务职能。

章程与组织架构

History and Position

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) was founded in 1899 as the national professional association for landscape architects in the United States. The Washington Chapter (WASLA) was established in 1973, succeeding the earlier Washington Society of Landscape Architects (WSLA, 1946). WASLA now represents more than 400 members across Washington State and operates within the national ASLA charter framework, fulfilling chapter-level responsibilities in advocacy, education, and public service.

Charter and Organization

The chapter’s stated mission is to lead, to educate, and to participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning, and artful design of cultural and natural environments. Governance is carried out through a Board, standing committees, and the WASLA Office. The chapter also participates in the Architects & Engineers Legislative Council, coordinating with allied building-industry groups on state-level legislative matters.

Programs and Professional Development

WASLA holds an annual Conference/Trade Show, an annual Chapter Awards Banquet, an annual university student award competition, and recurring Open Studio Socials throughout the year. Scope of Practice and Public Role

Landscape architecture covers site planning, garden design, environmental restoration, town and urban planning, park and recreation planning, regional planning, and historic preservation. WASLA asks its members to act as stewards for environment, community, and neighbors, and takes public positions on inclusion, equity, and the fair use of public outdoor space in Washington State.
