总会沿革
美国专业景观设计师协会 (Association of Professional Landscape Designers, 简称 APLD) 成立于 1989 年, 是国际性的景观设计专业团体, 总部位于宾夕法尼亚州哈里斯堡。总会推行专业行为守则, 设立行业内唯一的景观设计师认证项目, 申请者须通过严格的同行评审才能获得认证。
华盛顿州分会成立
APLD 华盛顿州分会 (APLDWA) 于 2000 年成立, 是 APLD 总会下设的最早分会 (the oldest chapter in the nation)。分会办公地点设在西雅图 (Seattle, WA), 围绕华盛顿州景观设计群体展开活动, 沿用 APLD 总会的专业守则与认证标准, 同时对接本州园艺与园林行业的实际需求。

分会网站常年开放 Find a Designer (查找设计师) 入口, 业主可按地区检索 APLD 认证设计师。Why Hire a Designer 一栏列出景观设计师的六项基础原则——比例 (proportion)、统一 (unity)、平衡 (balance)、透视 (perspective)、色彩 (color)、质感 (texture), 并说明设计师在植物选择、施工方协调、地方审批沟通中扮演的角色。
会员与教育活动
分会运营 Membership (会员) 板块, 设有 Peer Organized Discussion Group、Google Group 等同行交流渠道, 并整理 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) 与 Resource Links 等教育资源供会员跟进行业动态。Events 板块发布 Upcoming Events 与 Calendar, 联合总会与本地园艺机构开展讲座、设计沙龙和年度聚会。

APLDWA 理事会负责分会日常事务, 2024-2026 任期内包括: 2026 届主席 Kryssie Maybay、2027 届候任主席 Courtney Olander、2025 届卸任主席 Lara Vyas、司库 Robert Hobart (2024-2026)、秘书 Alerian Lockwood (2025-2026)、以及两位 member-at-large Jason Jorgensen (2024-2026) 与 Robin Parsons (2025-2026)。对外设有 Sponsorship (赞助) 板块, 长期招募本地赞助商支持学生与新人设计师。
Founding of the National Association
The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) was founded in 1989 as an international professional body for landscape designers. Its national office is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. APLD administers a code of professional standards, runs the only certification program of its kind in the field, and admits certified designers through a peer-review process.
Establishment of the Washington Chapter
The Washington Chapter (APLDWA) was formed in 2000 and is the oldest APLD chapter in the nation. The chapter is based in Seattle, WA, and serves the landscape design community in Washington State. APLDWA adopts APLD’s professional code and certification standards while engaging with horticulture and garden-industry needs specific to the state.
Core Services for the Public
The chapter website keeps a public Find a Designer directory that lets clients search APLD-certified designers by region. The Why Hire a Designer page lays out six design principles used by professional landscape designers—proportion, unity, balance, perspective, color, and texture—and explains how designers coordinate plant selection, contractors, vendors, and local government review.
Membership and Educational Programs
APLDWA maintains a Membership section that hosts a Peer Organized Discussion Group, a Google Group for members, and a set of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Resource Links for tracking industry developments. The Events section publishes Upcoming Events and a Calendar, with lectures, design salons, and an annual gathering organized jointly with APLD national and local horticultural partners.
Board and External Outreach
The APLDWA board oversees chapter operations. The 2024–2026 term includes 2026 President Kryssie Maybay, 2027 President-elect Courtney Olander, 2025 Past President Lara Vyas, Treasurer Robert Hobart (2024–2026), Secretary Alerian Lockwood (2025–2026), and members-at-large Jason Jorgensen (2024–2026) and Robin Parsons (2025–2026). The chapter also runs a Sponsorship program that recruits local sponsors to fund students and emerging designers.
