协会的起源与历史
Zwickauer Steingartenverein e.V.（茨维考岩石园协会）位于德国萨克森州茨维考市，1979 年 6 月 20 日作为德意志文化联盟（Kulturbund der DDR）下属的「高山植物」（Gebirgspflanzen）工作组正式成立，最初有 10 名成员。1990 年 4 月 20 日，协会在茨维考地方法院登记注册，正式脱离文化联盟独立运作，成为一个自筹经费、自定章程的民间园艺团体。1996 年初，担任会长 17 年的创始人格哈德·内斯特勒（Eberhard Nestler）将协会交到了汉斯·克罗伊（Hans Croy）手中，2002 年 3 月起由现任会长拉尔夫·罗克斯特罗（Ralf Rockstroh）接任至今。
会员规模与活动场地
协会规模不大，现有约 32 名会员（数据截至 2022 年）。每年 10 月到次年 4 月，会员们每月第二个星期三晚上都会在茨维考的 Gasthof zum Vogelsiedler 酒店（Lerchenweg 60, 08066 Zwickau）聚会，活动以幻灯片放映、植物专题讲座、经验交流为主。每年夏季，协会还会组织集体外出，去萨克森州的植物园、园艺展或会员自家的花园参观学习。聚会对访客和园艺爱好者一直开放，欢迎任何感兴趣的人来参加。
年度高山植物集市（Gebirgspflanzenbörse）
协会最具传统的活动是每年一届的 Gebirgspflanzenbörse（高山植物集市），始于 1982 年 8 月 28 日的第一次集市。集市在茨维考的奥古斯特·霍希博物馆（August-Horch-Museum，Audistraße 7）场地举办，会员把自己繁殖的高山植物、岩生花卉、球根等拿来出售或交换，同时也是一个面向公众的园艺交流日。2026 年 8 月 15 日将迎来第 45 届集市，时间是上午 9 点到下午 1 点。协会从 1981 年起开始发布年度种子清单（Samenliste），列出当年会员手里可以交换或购买的高山植物种子，是植物爱好者寻找稀有品种的好渠道。
萨克森州园艺展的参展传统
协会长期参加萨克森州的 Landesgartenschau（州园艺展），从 2015 年在厄尔斯尼茨（Oelsnitz / Erzgeb.）的室内展览起步，2019 年又参与了弗兰肯贝格（Frankenberg）的州园艺展，建造了一座完整的岩石园展示。2026 年协会第三次参展，这次在 Aue / Bad Schlema 举办，造了一座更大的岩石园。协会把自己定位为小型团体，每次参展都会把自己的造园过程用照片记录下来，跟其他州园艺展和野外考察的照片一起归入协会网站的相册栏目。
野外考察与友邻团体
除了本地活动，协会会员还会一起到阿尔卑斯山区、比利牛斯山、多洛米蒂、巴尔干等地看原生态高山植物。从 2003 年起，协会组织过斯洛文尼亚/克罗地亚、法国（科西嘉、埃克兰、比利牛斯、瓦莱河谷、罗亚河谷、西阿尔卑斯）、意大利（奥斯塔山谷、莱德罗湖）、西班牙（比利牛斯）、希腊、保加利亚（皮林）、德国（齐勒塔尔、凯撒山脉、萨恩塔尔阿尔卑斯）、奥地利（凯撒山脉、安特霍尔策塔尔）、加拿大（安大略早春）和美国西部国家公园等多次考察。协会与德国高山植物与宿根园艺工作组、Gesellschaft der Staudenfreunde、英国 AGS（Alpine Garden Society）、新西兰 Alpine Garden Society、加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚 Alpine Garden Club 等多个国内外园艺团体有交流链接。
Origins and History
The Zwickauer Steingartenverein e.V. (Zwickau Rock Garden Society) is based in the city of Zwickau in the German state of Saxony. It was founded on 20 June 1979 as a working group called Gebirgspflanzen under the Kulturbund der DDR (Cultural League of the GDR), with ten founding members. On 20 April 1990 the group was entered in the register of associations at the local court of Zwickau as Zwickauer Steingartenverein e.V. and became an independent, self-funded voluntary organisation. Eberhard Nestler, who led the society for seventeen years, handed over to Hans Croy in early 1996. Ralf Rockstroh has chaired the society since March 2002.
Membership and Meeting Place
The society has around 32 members (figure from 2022). From October through April the group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at Gasthof zum Vogelsiedler (Lerchenweg 60, 08066 Zwickau) for slide shows, specialist talks and informal exchange. During the summer months members visit other botanical gardens, horticultural shows or each other’s gardens together. Guests and anyone curious about rock gardening are always welcome at these meetings.
The Annual Gebirgspflanzenbörse
The highlight of the society’s calendar is the annual Gebirgspflanzenbörse (alpine plant market), a tradition going back to the very first such market held on 28 August 1982. The market takes place on the grounds of the August-Horch-Museum in Zwickau (Audistraße 7) and members sell or swap alpine plants, rock garden flowers and bulbs they have raised themselves. The 45th edition is planned for Saturday 15 August 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Since 1981 the society has also published an annual Samenliste (seed list) of seeds members are willing to share or sell.
Exhibits at the Saxony State Garden Shows
The society has a long record of contributing to Saxony’s Landesgartenschau (state garden show). It first exhibited with a small indoor display at Oelsnitz / Erzgeb. in 2015, then built a full rock garden at the 2019 Frankenberg show, and has returned for a third time at Aue / Bad Schlema in 2026 with an even larger installation. The members document the construction of each exhibit in photographs, which are kept alongside albums of past state shows and field trips in the gallery section of the website.
Field Trips and Partner Organisations
Beyond their local programme the members run field trips to see alpine plants in their native habitats, including the Julian Alps (Slovenia, 2003 and 2008), the French Pyrenees (2005), Roya Valley (France, 2004), western Alps of France (2006), Corsica (2007), Bulgaria’s Pirin range (2006), Greece (2008), the Spanish Pyrenees (2010), the Aosta Valley and Lake Ledro in Italy (2011), the Zillertal (2013), the Abruzzo (2014), the Dolomites (2015), western US national parks (2016), the Kaisergebirge and Antholz Valley in the Alps (2017), and an early-spring visit to Ontario. The website lists links to partner organisations such as the Arbeitsgruppe Alpine- und Staudengärtner, the Gesellschaft der Staudenfreunde, the Alpine Garden Society (UK), the New Zealand Alpine Garden Society, the Alpine Garden Club of British Columbia and the Botanischer Garten Innsbruck with its Patscherkofel alpengarten.
