协会概况
魁北克高山与岩石园协会（SPARQ）成立于 2000 年 4 月，总部设在蒙特利尔植物园，是加拿大魁北克地区专门面向高山与岩生植物爱好者的非营利园艺组织。协会以促进魁北克省内外高山植物爱好者交流、推动本土园艺知识普及为宗旨，与蒙特利尔植物园长期保持合作，将植物园场地作为会员活动的主要举办场所。
历史与定位
协会自成立以来便以「让魁北克园艺爱好者认识全球高山植物」为使命，希望通过系统性的科普活动，让初学者和资深玩家都能掌握高山植物的栽培要点，从而让更多魁北克花园能够容纳这些在国际园艺界极具特色的物种。协会同时与北美高山与岩石园协会（NARGS）建立合作，是该国际网络在加拿大的核心伙伴。
会员活动与服务
协会每年组织多场讲座与实地参观，主题覆盖中亚天山山脉植物考察、高山植物栽培实务、稀有园艺品种保育等，会员还可参加北美地区的高山植物园互访。协会全年安排会员专属植物销售活动、季节性种子交换（Seedex）以及魁北克与邻近省份的植物园导览，会员凭协会标识可在蒙特利尔植物园活动日享受入园便利。
种子交换与刊物
协会运营的种子交换项目（Seedex）是会员之间共享稀有高山植物种子的主要渠道，每年发行一本涵盖播种要点、苗期管理与品种介绍的文章合集，并由会员自发投稿园艺实务类稿件。协会还维护一份推荐链接列表，整理了国际高山与岩石园组织、栽培数据库以及蒙莫朗西落叶植物园等本土资源，方便会员延伸学习。
行业网络与合作
协会的工作依托蒙特利尔植物园这一加拿大最重要的植物研究机构，并与魁北克园艺生态联合会（FSHEQ）、安大略岩石园协会（ORGHPS）、大西洋沿岸与西海岸的加拿大姐妹协会保持长期交流。协会的会员和出版物向所有对高山植物感兴趣的园艺爱好者开放，与园艺苗圃、研究机构和高校植物园共同构成了加拿大高山植物保育与推广的协作网络。
Association Profile
The Société de plantes alpines et de rocaille du Québec (SPARQ), founded in April 2000, is a non-profit horticultural society based in Montreal, Canada. Headquartered at the Jardin botanique de Montréal, the society partners with the botanical garden to host most of its activities. Its mission centres on giving Quebec gardeners, both beginners and experienced, a working knowledge of alpine flora from around the world.
History and Mission
Since its founding, SPARQ has worked to increase the diversity of Quebec gardens by introducing members to alpine plants and the conditions they require. The society emphasises the traditional Quebec rock garden and aims to popularise species that are still hard to find through local nurseries, helping gardeners locate and cultivate less common taxa adapted to local conditions.
Membership Activities
Members take part in lectures, workshops and guided visits throughout the year, with recent topics ranging from expeditions to the Tian Shan mountains of Central Asia to cultivation techniques for rare alpine species. Members also join seasonal plant sales, an annual seed exchange (Seedex), and guided tours of botanical gardens in Quebec and neighbouring provinces. The society arranges entry to the Jardin botanique de Montréal on activity days.
Seed Exchange and Publications
SPARQ’s Seedex programme allows members to share seeds of rare alpine species; orders are placed through a printed form and matched annually. The society publishes a members’ bulletin featuring articles on propagation, soil mixes, winter sowing and other practical topics contributed by members. A curated links page gathers international alpine society resources, cultivation databases and other Quebec institutions.
Network and Partnerships
The society operates within a wider North American alpine gardening community. It is affiliated with the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS) and maintains working contacts with the Fédération des sociétés d’horticulture et d’écologie du Québec (FSHEQ), the Ontario Rock Garden and Hardy Plant Society (ORGHPS), the Ottawa Valley Rock Garden Society, the Alpine Garden Club of B.C. and other Canadian partner societies, building a shared network for alpine plant conservation and education.
