历史沿革与组织架构

“华盛顿州花园俱乐部联合会” Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs（WSFGC）于 1933 年 9 月 28 日在西雅图 Frederick & Nelson 百货成立，最初由 15 个俱乐部组成，1934 年 1 月扩展到 25 个创始俱乐部。同年 3 月 29 日，WSFGC 被全国州立花园俱乐部理事会（National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc.，今 National Garden Clubs, Inc.，简称 NGC）接纳为州级联合会。1935 年春会员俱乐部增至 50 个。WSFGC 是 NGC 在华盛顿州的会员单位，同属太平洋地区（Pacific Region，包括华盛顿、俄勒冈、加州、内华达、爱达荷、阿拉斯加、夏威夷 7 个州）。WSFGC 是 501(c)(3) 非营利组织，目前代表 91 个俱乐部、2,536 名会员，州内划分为 Black Hills、Central、Chinook、Cross Sound、East Lake Washington、Greater Seattle、Hill & Dale、Olympic Peninsula 等多个地区，由各地区主任与理事会协调。WSFGC 的代表树种是铁杉（Hemlock），州鸟是柳金翅雀（Willow Goldfinch），州歌是《Our Own Washington》，州花是太平洋杜鹃（Rhododendron macrophyllum），州花图样自 1936 年起作为联合会徽标中心图案，沿用至今。

总部 Turner-Koepf House

WSFGC 总部位于西雅图 Beacon Hill 区的 Turner-Koepf House。该建筑由 E. A. Turner 于 1883 年建造，1906 年由 Koepf 先生迁至现址，1916 年由 Jefferson Park Ladies Improvement Club 接手改建为社区俱乐部会所，避免了拆除命运。1977 年 6 月 15 日，WSFGC 购入这栋当时已有 94 年历史的老宅作为州联合会总部。该建筑已列入华盛顿州历史遗产名录（Washington Heritage Register）和国家历史建筑名录（National Register of Historic Buildings），2008 年起通称 The Garden House。

官方季刊与教育奖项

Washington Garden & Design（WG&D）是 WSFGC 的官方季刊，由 WSFGC 自行出版，电子版每季度发行一次，免费提供给会员与读者。季刊内容包括花艺设计、景观设计、园艺、环境议题、书评、活动通知、委员会报告、文章与图片，每期还附本季度活动时间表与研讨会、研修会、年度大会的注册信息。WG&D 之外，WSFGC 会员还可阅读 NGC 的全美季刊 The National Gardener 与太平洋地区 7 州联合季刊 WACONIAH。WSFGC 通过 NGC 三级评审机制——州级、太平洋地区、国家级——对个人、俱乐部、地区与州联合会的园艺、花艺设计、社区与环境工作进行表彰，奖项类别包括 Flower Show Achievement、Horticulture Awards、Landscape Design Awards、Pollinators Program 等。WSFGC 设 Arbor Day、Blue Star Memorials、Plant-A-Tree、Scholarship & Endowment Funds、Natural Disasters Grant 等委员会与项目，每年向华盛顿州公共树木园、植物园和其他以保育或环境为宗旨的非营利机构发放捐赠。青少年项目包括 Youth Poster Contest、Youth Contests 与学校园艺课程。WSFGC 每两年举办一次州年会和花展，2026 年秋季理事会会议将于 9 月 2–3 日在华盛顿州 Yakima 举行。

History and Organization

The Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs (WSFGC) was organized on September 28, 1933, at Frederick & Nelson Department Store in Seattle, with 15 founding clubs. By January 3, 1934, twenty-five charter clubs had joined; on March 29, 1934, WSFGC was admitted to the National Council of State Garden Clubs (now National Garden Clubs, Inc., NGC). WSFGC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that represents 91 clubs and 2,536 members across Washington State and is affiliated with NGC Pacific Region (Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii). State symbols are Hemlock (tree), Willow Goldfinch (bird), Our Own Washington (song) and Rhododendron macrophyllum (flower, used as the federation emblem since 1936). The WSFGC Headquarters House, built by E. A. Turner in 1883 and moved to Beacon Hill, Seattle, in 1906, was acquired on June 15, 1977; it is listed on the Washington Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Buildings and is also called The Garden House.

Official Quarterly Publication

Washington Garden & Design is the official quarterly publication of WSFGC, covering floral design, landscape design, horticulture, environmental concerns, book reviews, committee reports, articles, photographs and event registration. Members also receive the NGC quarterly The National Gardener and the Pacific Region newsletter WACONIAH.

Awards and Community Programs

WSFGC participates in NGC’s three-tier awards program (state / Pacific Region / national), with categories including Flower Show Achievement, Horticulture Awards, Landscape Design Awards and Pollinators Program. Standing committees and projects include Arbor Day, Blue Star Memorials, Plant-A-Tree, Scholarship & Endowment Funds and the Natural Disasters Grant. Youth programs include the Youth Poster Contest, Youth Contests and school gardening curricula. The WSFGC Fall Board Meeting is scheduled for September 2–3, 2026, in Yakima, Washington.
