Vaarderhoogt(荷兰语全称 ‘t Vaarderhoogt,中文常译「瓦尔德霍赫特」)是荷兰中部 Soest 镇附近的一座老牌综合性花园中心,迄今已有 50 多年历史。

About the Centre

‘t Vaarderhoogt is a long-running family garden centre near the town of Soest in the central Netherlands, with more than fifty years of history. It positions itself as a garden centre for hobby gardeners who enjoy living close to nature, rather than a trade nursery serving landscape contractors. The shop has been called by visitors and local press the most versatile garden centre in central Netherlands, and its product mix and event calendar are designed to make a single visit feel like a half-day family outing rather than a quick plant-buy.

Plants and Product Range

The core range is live garden plants: perennials and shrubs, ornamental and fruit trees, fruit bushes, vegetables and herbs, alongside roses, clematis, ornamental grasses, indoor foliage and seasonal pot colour. Unlike a specialist propagation nursery, Vaarderhoogt brings together the entire planting palette a home garden might need under one roof, with benches arranged by theme, colour and use so that customers can picture combinations in their own space. The shop runs an annual Kerstshow (Christmas show) and other seasonal displays that turn part of the centre into a walk-through exhibition, making the visit feel like a seasonal event as well as a shopping trip.

On-Site Café and Events

The centre runs an in-store Lunch-herberg De Kastelein café serving fresh coffee, light meals and cake, so visitors can sit down with a drink after browsing the benches. It also runs a regular programme of Doe-avonden (hands-on evening workshops), demonstration videos and themed open days for gardening clubs and family visitors. A newer initiative, the Natuurlijke Plantenplein (“Natural Planting Square”), is built around biodiversity-friendly native plant combinations developed in collaboration with the local Heuvelrugtuin initiative, aimed at gardeners who want a more ecological planting style.

Opening Hours and Services

The centre is open year-round and is one of the few Dutch garden centres open on Sundays: Monday to Friday 9:00–18:00, Saturday 9:00–17:00, Sunday 12:00–17:00. Gift cards (Cadeaubonnen) are available, and a free email newsletter keeps regulars up to date on events, extended opening times and seasonal highlights. Customers can browse in person or reserve specific plants and tools by phone or email, and the centre takes bookings for groups, gardening clubs and trade buyers.

Online and Community Presence

The centre maintains a Facebook page alongside the main site, posting event news, new arrivals and seasonal garden photos for local followers. A small library of Demonstratievideo’s (demonstration videos) features the in-house team showing basic tasks such as pruning, repotting and composting for newer gardeners. Content updates run steadily in Dutch and centre on the Soest-area domestic-garden community. The combination of a wide live-plant range, an in-house café and a packed event calendar is what sets Vaarderhoogt apart from other Dutch garden centres and keeps it on the shortlist for any family day out in the central Netherlands.
