Family Origins and Seasonal Operation

Estate Gardens was founded in 1993 as a family-run seasonal greenhouse just east of Sherwood Park in Strathcona County, Alberta. The business began when the founding family placed an initial order for trees and shrubs intended for personal use and for friends and relatives; word of mouth grew the orders year by year, the team added annuals and perennials to the mix, and additional greenhouses were built one by one to match the increasing volume of plants.

2026 Season Hours and Visit Planning

Estate Gardens operates as a seasonal greenhouse with regular hours from the beginning of May until the end of June, opening the 2026 season on May 2. Standard hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm. Outside the regular May-through-June window, visitors can call or text the published phone number in July to arrange an appointment, with all visit details confirmed against the latest information posted by the greenhouse.

Plant Range and Proven Winners Certified Training

Estate Gardens carries trees and shrubs along with annuals and perennials, and has participated in the Proven Winners Certified program every year since 2002. The greenhouse also offers a custom container service: visitors bring their own pot or pick one from the in-store selection, and the team works with them to design plant combinations tailored to the space.

The Sold & Hold hanging basket program lets customers pick the colour and style of basket they want in spring while the greenhouse continues to grow the plants until the danger of frost has passed, removing the need to baby-sit young plants in a garage or on a windowsill.
