机构定位与历史沿革

中国农业科学院成立于二十世纪中叶,是国家在”三农”领域布局的中央级综合性农业科研机构,长期承担全国性重大基础与应用基础研究、应用研究和高新技术研究的统筹任务,定位于解决中国农业及农村经济发展中的基础性、方向性、全局性、关键性科技问题。机构本部设于北京,在作物科学、园艺科学、畜牧兽医科学、资源与环境科学、工程与机械科学、质量安全与加工、信息与经济等多个学科集群下辖数十个研究所,形成覆盖全国的农业科研网络。

学科集群与研究所体系

全院现拥有数十个直属研究所与多个共建研究所,涵盖作物、园艺、畜牧、兽医、资源与环境、工程与机械、质量安全与加工、信息与经济等学科集群,下设一百三十余个学科方向与三百余个研究领域。蔬菜花卉研究所、蜜蜂研究所、棉花研究所、作物科学研究所、农田灌溉研究所、中国水稻研究所等机构在各自细分领域承担国家级科研任务,与全国二十余个省市的农业科研与教学单位形成协同网络。

重大科研成果与品种贡献

建院以来先后取得以”籼型杂交水稻””印水型杂交水稻””中单 2 号”玉米、”中国农作物种质资源收集保存评价与利用”、”中国小麦品种品质评价体系建立与分子改良技术研究”、”矮败小麦及其高效育种方法的创建与应用”、”中棉所 12″棉花、”中棉所 19″棉花、转基因抗虫棉花、”中黄 13″大豆、”京丰 1 号”甘蓝等为代表的数千项科技成果,覆盖水稻、小麦、玉米、棉花、油料、蔬菜、瓜果、畜禽、兽医疫苗、地膜栽培等多个细分方向。

国际合作与学术交流

机构已与世界多国政府农业部门、国际农业研究磋商组织、跨国农业企业及公益基金会建立合作关系,并在北京设立多个国际机构驻华办事处,与海外伙伴共建数十个联合实验室与联合研究中心。在国际农业研究磋商组织挑战计划、绿色超级稻项目等重大国际科技合作项目中承担协调角色,禽流感疫苗、沼气技术、杂交水稻及小型农机具等自主创新成果输出至海外多国。由本机构发起的国际农业科学院院长高层研讨会已成为国际农科领域的重要学术交流平台。

战略定位与未来发展方向

面向农业强国建设与乡村振兴的战略需求,机构继续聚焦种业自主创新、耕地保护与质量提升、农业应对气候变化、农机装备智能化、农产品质量安全等关键方向,强化基础前沿研究、关键技术攻关与产业化示范的衔接,推动农业新质生产力的培育,为保障国家粮食安全与重要农产品稳定供给提供系统性科技支撑。


Institutional Positioning and Historical Evolution

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences is the national-level comprehensive agricultural research institution established in the mid-twentieth century under the central strategic framework for the “Three Rural” sectors. It coordinates nationwide programs in basic and applied research as well as high-technology development, addressing foundational, directional, and strategic science and technology issues in Chinese agricultural and rural economic development. The headquarters is located in Beijing, and the institution operates an extensive network of research institutes across the country covering crop science, horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, resources and environment, engineering and machinery, quality safety and processing, and information and economics.

Disciplinary Clusters and Research Institute Network

The academy oversees dozens of directly affiliated and co-built research institutes, organized into disciplinary clusters spanning crops, horticulture, livestock, veterinary medicine, resources and environment, engineering and machinery, quality safety and processing, and information and economics, with more than one hundred thirty research directions and over three hundred specialized fields. Specialized institutes in vegetables and flowers, apiculture, cotton, crop science, farmland irrigation, rice research, and related fields undertake national-level research mandates and collaborate with agricultural research and teaching institutions across more than twenty provinces and municipalities.

Major Scientific Achievements and Variety Contributions

Since its establishment, the academy has produced thousands of major scientific and technological achievements, represented by indica hybrid rice, Yinshui-type hybrid rice, “Zhongdan No. 2” maize, the collection and evaluation system for Chinese crop germplasm resources, the wheat quality evaluation and molecular improvement system, dwarf male-sterile wheat and its high-efficiency breeding method, “CCRRI 12” cotton, “CCRRI 19” cotton, Bt insect-resistant cotton, “Zhonghuang 13” soybean, and “Jingfeng No. 1” cabbage, covering rice, wheat, maize, cotton, oilseeds, vegetables, melons and fruits, livestock, veterinary vaccines, plastic mulching cultivation, and other major industrial directions.

International Cooperation and Academic Exchange

The institution maintains cooperation with agricultural authorities of multiple countries, international agricultural research organizations, multinational agricultural enterprises, and philanthropic foundations, and has hosted representative offices of international organizations in Beijing. It co-established dozens of joint laboratories and joint research centers with overseas partners, and plays a coordinating role in international programs such as the CGIAR Challenge Programs and the Green Super Rice project of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Outputs including avian influenza vaccines, biogas technology, hybrid rice, and small agricultural machinery have been transferred to numerous countries, and the International Summit of Directors of Agricultural Academies initiated by the institution has become a notable academic exchange platform.

Strategic Orientation and Future Development

Aligned with national strategies for agricultural modernization and rural revitalization, the institution continues to prioritize seed industry innovation, arable land protection and quality improvement, agricultural climate change response, intelligent agricultural machinery and equipment, and quality and safety of agricultural products. It strengthens the linkage between frontier basic research, key technology breakthroughs, and industrialization demonstration, fostering new quality productive forces in agriculture and providing systematic scientific and technological support for safeguarding national food security and the stable supply of major agricultural products.
