A core commitment is to provide independent, third-party advice to municipal planners, developers, infrastructure owners, golf clubs, zoos, botanic gardens and homeowners, helping them retain healthy trees and make informed decisions about pruning, protection and removal.
Tree Services
Treelogic’s tree services work covers two complementary streams. Tree Health Care is built on the principles of Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM), emphasising prevention through appropriate species selection, soil improvement, correct planting and routine maintenance; the most established Australian example is the control of Elm Leaf Beetle (ELB) through 12-month-guaranteed soil or trunk injection of low-toxicity systemic insecticide. Tree Management provides concise, on-site guidelines for protecting trees during the construction phase, in line with the compliance requirements of the relevant municipality, and supports municipalities with technical guidelines, street tree strategies, policy documents, i-Tree Eco ecosystem-service modelling, GIS-based asset inventories and AS4970 ‘Protection of trees on development sites’ compliance, all under the guiding principle of “the right tree in the right place in the right way”.
Tree Reports & Assessment
Treelogic’s reporting work covers the full chain from pre-purchase planning advice through to expert witness testimony: planning and impact assessment identifying tree-related constraints prior to purchase and calculating AS4970-compliant Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) encroachments; preliminary assessments documenting species, origin, dimensions, health, structure and retention value with GIS-based colour-coded plans; risk management using both QTRA and TRAQ methods, mapping and prioritising trees on a risk-rated schedule; tree valuations using i-Tree Eco to calculate ecosystem services and structural value for compensation claims or development bonds; and expert witness services, with consultants regularly appearing before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), planning panels and State Government parliamentary hearings.
Project Portfolio & Team
Treelogic has been engaged on some of Victoria’s most significant urban-forestry projects, including the City of Melbourne Exceptional Tree Register (development 2011, peer review 2012, expert evidence for Amendment C212 panel hearing 2014), the City of Maribyrnong Urban Tree Renewal Plan and Urban Forest Assessment (2014), the City of Port Phillip “Greening Port Phillip” street tree strategy, the City of Kingston and City of Stonnington tree management policies and technical guidelines, and the Melbourne Cricket Club Yarra Park Tree Strategy (full inventory plus 20-year replacement plan). The firm has also provided tree data collection and database design for Royal Melbourne, Healesville and Werribee Zoos, Adelaide Botanic Garden, Centennial Park and the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, as well as inventories and management plans for more than 14 golf clubs including Royal Melbourne, Victoria, Kingston Heath, Huntingdale, Yarra Yarra, Spring Valley and Portarlington.
