德尔大丽花的积分计划(Loyalty)已上线,会员消费 1 美元积 1 分,可兑换折扣券;共设 Basic(0 分)、Silver(250 分起)、Gold(400 分起)、Platinum(550 分起)四个等级,每个等级对应不同的兑换折扣。
A Small Dahlia Tuber Nursery in a Minneapolis Community Garden
Dahlia Del (also called Del’s Dahlias) is a small, individually run dahlia tuber nursery based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The site was launched in 2017 under the domain delsdahlias.com, and the planting beds are spread across the Prospect Park neighbourhood and community gardens in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The online catalog is open to members only, and Del personally selects, labels and packages every tuber that ships out. Each tuber is shipped with at least one viable eye, and customers are encouraged to verify their orders on arrival and report any issue within the current growing season. The nursery does not maintain a broadcast newsletter; all updates are posted on the home page.
Membership Catalog, Pre-Sale Rounds and Tuber Guarantee
Access to the Catalog is for members only. A limited pre-sale usually opens during the winter months, with a second restock around March or April once overwintering results are clear. Member benefits include access to the tuber pre-sale, targeted special communications, personalised service, points-based rewards, and an archived Updates page reserved for members. Payments are taken through PayPal or Stripe (credit card). Minnesota residents are charged sales tax on the order total including shipping. Shipping is offered within the continental United States only and begins in mid-March, weather permitting. Trays, inserts and loaf pans are bulky and are therefore shipped only to the five-state region of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Tubers are inspected before shipping and replaced or refunded if an eye fails to grow or a label proves incorrect.
Year-Round Workflow: Cold Storage, Cuttings and Dividing
At the end of each growing season, Del lifts every clump, trims the stems and divides the tubers before moving them into cold storage for the winter. The storage room is kept at roughly 4 to 10°C (40 to 50°F) with steady humidity so the tubers neither dry out nor rot, a temperature range commonly recommended for amateur dahlia growers as well. In early spring the tubers are brought out, potted up in cell trays with a labelled growing medium, and encouraged to push eyes; once shoots are long enough the cuttings are taken, rooted, and the parent tuber is divided into single-eye or multi-eye sections for replanting in the community beds. The Resources page on the site links to the long-form video tutorials Del recommends for taking cuttings, dividing clumps and wrapping tubers in food wrap for storage.
The Minnesota Dahlia Society, ADS and the Local Show Circuit
Del is a member of the Minnesota Dahlia Society (MDS) and the American Dahlia Society (ADS), and shows award-winning blooms at the Minnesota State Fair and at the Fall Dahlia Show held at Bachman’s, both events sponsored by MDS. Bachman’s is a long-established Twin Cities garden centre and a focal point for the local dahlia community. Any blooms that are not shown are donated to local partners such as the Our Lady of Peace hospice, Episcopal Homes (a nearby senior residence), and individuals facing difficult life circumstances; on rare occasions a few stems are sold through Soderberg’s Floral and Gift. When a variety is sold out locally, Del refers customers to Creekside Dahlias and Dahlia Addict, two independent resources that track available stock across many small growers.
Loyalty Programme, Community Outreach and Public Resources
The DahliaDel.com Loyalty Programme rewards members with one point for every US dollar spent, redeemable for discounts at checkout. The four tiers are Basic (0 points), Silver (from 250 points), Gold (from 400 points) and Platinum (from 550 points), each unlocking a different redeemable discount. The public Resources page compiles the American Dahlia Society classification, size, form and colour guides, links to Creekside Dahlias, Dahlia Addict, Dahlia University and the Dahlia wiki, and curated video tutorials on planting, taking cuttings, overwintering tubers, dividing clumps and wrapping tubers in food wrap. The site is also a member of the Minnesota Dahlia Society, so purchasers support the same growers who show at the State Fair and at Bachman’s, with surplus flowers going to hospice, senior residences and other community causes in the Twin Cities.
