历史沿革
云南农业大学的前身是 1938 年创办的国立云南大学农学院, 当时建址在昆明市呈贡县。1958 年独立建制为昆明农林学院, 迁到昆明北郊黑龙潭办学; 1962 年滇南大学、滇西大学农科并入; 1969 年学校再迁大理州宾川县, 1970 年又迁至曲靖地区寻甸县; 1971 年与云南农业劳动大学合并, 正式成立云南农业大学, 1980 年搬回昆明北郊黑龙潭校本部办学至今。1983 年学校获硕士学位授予权, 1993 年被列为云南省属重点大学, 2003 年获一级学科博士学位授予权, 2007 年起设立博士后科研流动站。2008 年教育部本科教学评估结论为优秀, 2009 年起先后承办云南农村干部学院、云南省食品安全管理学院和云南省高原特色农业产业研究院, 2013 年经科技部和教育部批准建设新农村发展研究院。
校区布局与办学规模
学校本部设在昆明市盘龙区黑龙潭旁, 另有五华校区、普洱校区和西双版纳校区, 总面积 3800 多亩, 校舍面积近 70 万平方米, 教学科研仪器设备总值超过 4.5 亿元, 是一所省属重点全日制普通高等学校。截至 2023 年 1 月, 全日制在校生约 3.3 万人, 高等学历继续教育学生 1.5 万余人, 留学生约 200 人。学校图书馆是 CALIS 全国农学文献信息中心成员单位和云南省高等学校图书情报工作指导委员会现代信息技术专业委员会主任单位, 2014 年获批为教育部科技查新站 (农学类); 馆藏纸电资源总量 300 万余册, 中外文数据库 36 个, 形成了以农为主、兼顾理、工、经、管、文的综合文献保障体系。
学科专业与人才培养
学校设有 22 个学院, 学科涵盖种植业、养殖业、水利水电、农业工程、农业经济管理及部分人文社会科学领域。本科专业 73 个, 其中含 6 个国家级特色专业、13 个国家级一流本科专业建设点和 2 个通过国家工程教育认证的专业; 省级层面则有 7 个特色专业、8 个重点建设专业、5 个品牌专业和 24 个一流专业; 中外合作办学专业 2 个。学科建设方面, 省级一流学科 8 个, 一级学科博士后科研流动站 6 个, 一级学科博士学位授权点 6 个 (含 24 个二级学科博士点), 一级学科硕士学位授权点 14 个 (含 76 个二级学科硕士点); 专业学位类别 12 种, 含农业、兽医、风景园林、翻译、体育、生物医药、资源与环境、土木工程、林业、公共管理、工程管理和社会工作等方向。学校有 180 多个本科和研究生实习基地分布于云南省内及周边地区。
师资队伍与科研平台
学校现有在职教职工近 1900 人, 其中高级职称约 870 人, 中国工程院院士 1 人, 国家百千万人才工程国家级人选 5 人, 国家万人计划科技创新领军人才 2 人, 享受国务院政府特殊津贴的专家 11 人, 入选云南省兴滇英才支持计划 143 人次, 云南省中青年学术技术带头人及后备人才 76 人。平台方面, 学校拥有省部共建云南生物资源保护与利用国家重点实验室、农业生物多样性应用技术国家工程研究中心、西南中药材种质创新与利用国家地方联合工程研究中心、云南高原特色现代农业省部共建协同创新中心、国家农科专业基础实验教学示范中心、新农村发展研究院和中国—东盟教育培训中心等 7 个国家级教学科研与社会服务平台; 部省级平台 45 个, 院士专家工作站 24 个, 以及国家种质资源库分库和云南省省级种质资源圃 (库) 等支撑条件。
学术贡献与社会服务
办学 85 年来, 学校先后承担联合国全球环境基金、欧盟项目、国家 973 计划、863 计划、国家重点研发计划和科技支撑计划等各级各类项目 3700 多项, 科研经费累计达 16.5 亿元, 获国际、国家及省部级科技奖励 461 项 (其中第一单位 347 项), 涵盖国家科技进步二等奖、国家技术发明二等奖、联合国粮农组织科学研究一等奖、国际农业研究 CGIAR 杰出科学奖、何梁何利科学技术进步奖和云南省科技进步特等奖等。学校培养了 18 万余名毕业生, 据学校统计, 云南省农业高级技术人员、农业技术推广站负责人和县乡主管农业的领导三个 80% 均出自本校, 少数民族毕业生占 25% 以上。朱有勇院士团队的农业生物多样性控制病虫害理论与技术研究在《Nature》以封面文章发表, 国内累计推广超过 3 亿亩, 并获国家科技进步二等奖和国家技术发明二等奖; 李铮友教授团队率先育成中国第一个水稻雄性不育系, 并实现了杂交粳稻的三系配套, 创造单产 1108.55 千克的世界纪录。
Historical Evolution
Yunnan Agricultural University traces its origins to the School of Agriculture at Yunnan University, founded in 1938 on what was then the Chengong County campus. The school became Kunming Agriculture and Forestry College in 1958 and moved to the Heilongtan (Black Dragon Pool) area in the northern outskirts of Kunming. After the merger of agricultural departments from the former Southern Yunnan University and Western Yunnan University in 1962, the college was relocated to Binchuan County in Dali Prefecture in 1969 and then to Xundian County in Qujing in 1970. In 1971 the college merged with Yunnan Agriculture Working University and was formally named Yunnan Agricultural University, returning to the Heilongtan campus in 1980. Master’s degree authorization was granted in 1983, the university was designated a Yunnan provincial key university in 1993, first-level doctoral degree authorization came in 2003, and postdoctoral research stations were established from 2007. In 2008 the Ministry of Education evaluation of undergraduate teaching concluded with an excellent rating, and from 2009 the university has hosted the Yunnan Rural Cadre Academy, the Yunnan Food Safety Management Academy and the Yunnan Plateau Characteristic Agricultural Industry Research Institute, with the New Rural Development Research Institute approved in 2013.
Campus and University Scale
The main campus is located beside the Heilongtan scenic area in Panlong District, Kunming, and the university also operates the Wuhua campus, the Pu’er campus and the Xishuangbanna campus. The total area exceeds 3,800 mu, with a built-up area approaching 700,000 square meters and teaching and research equipment valued at over 450 million yuan. As of January 2023, the university had about 33,000 full-time students, 15,000 continuing-education students and roughly 200 international students. The library is a member of the CALIS National Agricultural Literature Information Center and chair of the modern information technology committee of the Yunnan Higher Education Library and Information Working Committee; in 2014 it was approved as a Ministry of Education science and technology novelty-search station for agriculture. The collection totals more than 3 million print and digital volumes, with 36 Chinese and foreign databases.
Disciplines, Programs and Talent Training
The university has 22 colleges covering crop cultivation, animal husbandry, water conservancy and hydropower, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics and management, and selected humanities and social science disciplines. There are 73 undergraduate programs, including six national characteristic programs, thirteen national first-class undergraduate programs and two programs accredited by the China Engineering Education Accreditation; at provincial level there are seven characteristic programs, eight key development programs, five brand programs and twenty-four first-class programs, plus two Sino-foreign cooperative programs. On the graduate side, there are eight provincial first-class disciplines, six first-level postdoctoral research stations, six first-level doctoral degree authorization points (covering twenty-four second-level doctoral programs), fourteen first-level master’s degree authorization points (covering seventy-six second-level master’s programs) and twelve professional degree categories covering agriculture, veterinary medicine, landscape architecture, translation, physical education, biomedicine, resources and environment, civil engineering, forestry, public administration, engineering management and social work.
Faculty and Research Platforms
The university has nearly 1,900 faculty and staff members, with about 870 holding senior professional titles, one Chinese Academy of Engineering academician, five National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project national-level candidates, two National Ten-Thousand Talents Program leading talents in science and technology innovation, eleven State Council special allowance recipients, and 143 people selected under the Yunnan Xingdian Talent Support Plan. Research platforms include seven national-level teaching, research and service platforms – the State Key Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Bio-Resources in Yunnan co-built by province and ministry, the National Engineering Research Center for Agrobiodiversity Application Technology, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Southwest Traditional Chinese Medicine Germplasm Innovation and Utilization, the Yunnan Plateau Characteristic Modern Agriculture Co-Build Collaborative Innovation Center, the National Agricultural Basic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the New Rural Development Research Institute and the China-ASEAN Education and Training Center – alongside 45 ministry- and province-level platforms and 24 academician and expert workstations.
Academic Contributions and Social Service
Over 85 years the university has undertaken more than 3,700 research projects at international, national, provincial and ministerial level, with cumulative research funding of 1.65 billion yuan, and has received 461 international, national and provincial awards including the National Science and Technology Progress Award (second class), the National Technology Invention Award (second class), the FAO Research Award, the CGIAR Outstanding Science Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award and the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Special Award. According to university statistics, the institution has produced more than 180,000 graduates and accounts for more than 80 percent of senior agricultural technicians, heads of agricultural extension stations and county-level agricultural leaders in Yunnan Province, while more than 25 percent of graduates are from ethnic minorities. The team led by Academician Zhu Youyong published its biodiversity-based pest control theory in Nature as a cover article, with the related techniques applied on more than 300 million mu in China, and was awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Award (second class) and the National Technology Invention Award (second class). Professor Li Zhengyou’s team bred China’s first rice male-sterile line and realized the three-line matching system for hybrid japonica rice, setting a world record yield of 1,108.55 kg per mu.
