起源与家族经营
加拿大 Golden Greenhouse 位于阿尔伯塔省 Devon 镇西北约 5 公里处，1965 年由创办家族在斯普鲁斯格罗夫（Spruce Grove）乡间建立，最初只是一座自用的小型育苗棚，几十年间逐步扩建成今天对外开放的三连栋温室。由于长期采取家庭经营方式，苗床的轮作节奏、播种时间、花期控制都由家族成员共同决定，植物从种子到成品都尽量在这片土地里完成。Mike 与 Vivian Miketon 夫妇接手温室的时间不算长，Mike 此前在油气行业做企业管理，Vivian 负责植物和日常与顾客打交道，他们的三个儿子虽然已经成年，每年开春仍会回到温室里帮忙搬盆、换土、招待老顾客。
春季营业与主打品类
温室只在每年 4 月 25 日至 6 月 30 日对外开放，每天 10:00-17:00 营业。三座温室主要种植一年生开花植物（annuals）、花坛苗（bedding plants）以及蔬菜秧苗，户外区域则摆放多年生花卉和灌木，顾客还能买到现场育好的多肉组合盆栽。温室里专设几处休息座位和名为 Golden Grounds 的小咖啡吧，逛累的顾客可以坐下来喝杯热咖啡慢慢规划自己院子的春种方案，这种逛温室兼歇脚的氛围也是 Golden Greenhouse 与大型连锁苗圃最不一样的地方。

Origin and Family Operation
Golden Greenhouse sits about 5 km northwest of Devon in Alberta, Canada. The original family founded the property in 1965 on a small patch of land near Spruce Grove, gradually expanding a single hobby greenhouse into the three connected ranges that the public visits today. Because the operation has stayed in family hands for decades, the planting calendar, seed-starting timing and bloom schedule are still set by the people who walk the benches every morning, and most bedding plants sold each spring are started from seed on site. The current owners, Mike and Vivian Miketon, came to Golden Greenhouse relatively recently — Mike from a business background in the oil and gas sector, Vivian focused on the plants and the customers — and their three grown sons still return each spring to help with soil, transplanting and greeting regulars.
Spring Season and Core Plant Lines
The greenhouse is open to the public only between April 25 and June 30 each year, with daily hours of 10:00 to 17:00. The three glasshouses focus on flowering annuals, traditional bedding plants and vegetable starts for the home garden, while the outdoor yard carries a selection of perennials and shrubs, plus a small range of ready-made succulent arrangements. Inside, a few seating areas and a coffee bar called Golden Grounds let visitors pause with a hot drink and plan their beds before they buy — an atmosphere the family deliberately maintains to keep the greenhouse feeling like a neighbourhood greenhouse rather than a chain garden centre.
Seasonal Events and Community Reach
Each April the greenhouse runs a Planter Class where customers can build either a 12-inch hanging basket or a patio planter on site, choosing 1 thriller, 2 spillers and 2 fillers from the available annuals, with locally baked cinnamon buns and craft coffee served during the lesson; the four pricing tiers run $65 / $75 / $75 / $85 depending on whether one or two people attend and whether the pot is brought or supplied. In winter, the 2026 Christmas Walk opens the property for a free family outing with outdoor fires, pathway lights, a children’s scavenger hunt and a warming cabin serving concession food and drinks.
