Organisation and Four Regional Chapters

DnR has around 360 members grouped into four regional chapters: Rhodo Øst, Rhodo Sør, Rhodo Sør-Vest and Rhodo Vest. No chapters exist for Midt-Norge or Nord-Norge; new members are automatically placed in the chapter covering their region. Each chapter receives a share of the central membership fees and runs local meetings and events. The four chapter entities are listed in the Brønnøysund register: Øst (org.nr 912760642) founded 26 January 2004, Sør (org.nr 931964100) founded 1 January 2000, Vest (org.nr 931867210) founded 10 March 2006, Sør-Vest (org.nr 996373819) founded 24 February 2010. The leader is Ole Jonny Larsen (Bergeplass 12, 6010 Ålesund), phone 415 88 630, email olejonnylarsen@hotmail.com.

Bulletin Lapprosen and Seed Exchange

The member bulletin is Lapprosen (the Norwegian common name for rhododendron). Three issues are published each year; digital back copies from issue 1-2001 are available on the website. Content covers rhododendron cultivation, garden visits and open-pollinated seedling notes. A separate seed-list role (Frøforvalter) is held by Svein Erik Tønnesen (Hobdalsvegen 6, 4370 Egersund); the seed-list for the current cycle has closed, with the next list scheduled to appear on 1 January 2027.

Rhododendron Cultivation and Magnolia Camellia Collaboration

DnR has formally extended its scope to the genera Magnolia and Camellia, both ericaceous/acid-soil plants that can be grown alongside rhododendrons in Norway. Camelliagruppa, a Camellia interest group, was set up in 2025 to compile cultivar lists hardy in the various Norwegian climate zones and to produce cultivation notes. DnR also maintains informal contact with rhododendron societies in the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand and Germany, and the bulletin regularly reports on international meetings and seed exchanges.

Ordinary membership (Ordinært medlemskap) is open to individuals, institutions, other associations and companies; household members of an ordinary or honorary member can apply for household membership (Husstandsmedlemskap).
