History and Brand Origins

Alexander Rose was officially founded in early 1994 by Borge Leth and Roy Catchpole, two friends who shared a passion for outdoor design detail. The brand takes its name from the celebrated rose variety “Rosa Alexander,” which received the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit in the same year. The company is headquartered in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, England, and is registered in England & Wales under company number 02892358. The Pepera family were the early majority shareholders until 2010, when the Roda Group from Bolivia became a major shareholder alongside founder and Managing Director Borge Leth. Borge Leth retired in 2021, and Jan Vejsholt, who brought 35 years of experience in European contemporary furniture and textiles, took over as Managing Director.
