野生郁金香网站（Tulips in the Wild）由荷兰球根花卉专家埃里克·布瑞德（Eric Breed）主持创立，长期致力于在郁金香原生的极端山地与草原栖息地中观察并记录野生郁金香物种。网站以中亚五国为主线，延伸至中东与地中海多国，跨越数十万公里贫瘠草原与崎岖山峰，是该领域罕有的实景影像与物种笔记合集。
联合出版与展览伙伴
网站的文字与影像由阿姆斯特丹郁金香博物馆（Amsterdam Tulip Museum）与美国 Colorblends Wholesale Flowerbulbs 共同出版发行，原书《Tulips in the Wild》至今仍在博物馆纪念品店有售。Eric Breed 撰文，Christian Curless 编辑，确保物种描述严谨且叙事生动；花卉摄影除团队成员外，亦获野外摄影师 Nicholas Turland 慷慨授权。
二十余年的野外探索
团队由五位荷兰郁金香行家与猎人组成，利用二十年业余时间持续远征。路线横跨哈萨克斯坦、吉尔吉斯斯坦、乌兹别克斯坦、塔吉克斯坦、土库曼斯坦五大中亚国家的荒原与峰脊；并延伸至阿富汗、伊朗、土耳其、克里特岛、希腊、意大利、瑞士与阿尔及利亚，记录约三十余种郁金香原种在严酷生境下的自然形态。
交互地图与物种图鉴
网站核心是一张按地理位置交互索引的郁金香地图，每张图片都可点回原地；同时提供详尽的幻灯片图鉴，包含现场生境笔记、植物学描述与逸闻趣事。多数原生郁金香仅在欧美资深收藏家花园中可见，爱好者可借此了解其原生地海拔、土壤与气候，避免园艺栽培中常见的”过湿烂球”等致命错误。
学术与园艺双重价值
除作为物种档案外，网站还为现代郁金香育种提供地理溯源参考。原始栖息地数据显示，许多商业品种的亲本来自海拔两千至三千米的干燥岩缝，因此园艺品种引种低海拔湿润环境后，常因气候不适而退化。该网站的可贵之处在于，把学术调查、植物摄影与公众科普三件事融合在同一平台上。
Origins and Vision
Tulips in the Wild was created and is curated by Dutch bulb expert Eric Breed, who has spent more than two decades leading small expeditions to the remote mountain ridges and barren steppes where tulip species still survive in their native habitats.
Co-Publishers and Sponsors
The project was first issued in book form by Colorblends Wholesale Flowerbulbs, a third-generation American flowerbulb wholesaler, together with the Amsterdam Tulip Museum, and remains available through museum visitors while supplies last.
Two Decades of Field Exploration
A core group of five adventurous Dutch friends and tulip hunters traveled repeatedly across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, and reached Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Crete, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and Algeria in search of wild species tulips.
Interactive Map and Botanical Slideshow
The site centers on a geographic interactive map that links each species image to its original photo location, paired with a richly annotated slideshow containing habitat notes, botanical descriptions and short anecdotes drawn from the authors’ field journals.
Scholarly and Horticultural Significance
By documenting species tulips in their natural extreme environments, the project offers breeders a rare geographic reference and helps gardeners understand why many wild tulips, such as Tulipa clusiana or T. sylvestris, demand sharply drained soil and cool dry winters.
