协会每年举办一次ABS学习研讨会（ABS Learning Seminars），邀请国际知名盆景艺术家进行讲座和工作坊。2026年研讨会将于6月4日至7日在北卡罗来纳州阿什维尔市举行，主题涵盖落叶阔叶树培养、自然主义盆景设计、盆景花园设计、山毛榉盆景历史与创作等多个方向。同期还举办新锐人才大赛（New Talent Contest），发掘和培养年轻盆景艺术家。此外，协会下设广告、财务、会员、线上运营等多个常设委员会，负责日常运营事务。
俱乐部网络
协会建立了覆盖美国各州和加拿大各省的盆景俱乐部目录网络，为爱好者就近参与社区活动提供便利。俱乐部信息由各地区自行维护，协会仅提供平台性服务。俱乐部目录可在协会官网按省份查询，每年更新。
The American Bonsai Society (ABS) was founded in 1967 by motivated individuals who wanted to establish a North American society that would serve the needs of bonsai enthusiasts. Today, ABS is the pioneering national bonsai organization in the United States, dedicated to promoting interest in the art of bonsai and supporting the development of styling and production techniques that reflect the diverse personality of North America.
Publications
ABS publishes the quarterly journal “BONSAI: The Journal of the American Bonsai Society,” featuring articles written by North American bonsai authors covering topics from beginner basics to advanced techniques. The society also maintains a publishing committee that assists the editorial staff in obtaining publishable material and recruiting new authors and editors.
Programs and Events
ABS hosts an annual Learning Seminar featuring expert speakers on a wide range of bonsai topics. The 2026 Learning Seminars will take place June 4-7 in Asheville, NC, covering subjects including deciduous tree development, naturalistic bonsai design, garden design, and grafting techniques. The New Talent Contest is held concurrently to encourage emerging artists. The society also operates standing committees covering advertising, finance, membership, online presence, and publishing.
Bonsai Club Network
ABS maintains a directory of bonsai clubs across the United States and Canada. The club information is provided as a courtesy to the bonsai community, with updates managed through user-submitted forms on the society’s website.
