土壤另有 BN(中性,通用石头园土,pH 5.5 到 6.5)和 KA(加石灰石碎)两种标注。

A Small Nursery in Saxony
Alpine Staudengärtnerei sits in the village of Gorschmitz just outside the town of Leisnig in Saxony, Germany. The nursery was founded in 1990 by the owner’s parents and was taken over and expanded by him in 2007. The scope is deliberately narrow: alpine plants, rock garden plants and dwarf woody plants. The site states the position plainly, as partner for alpine plants, rock gardens and green landscaping.

The scale is modest. Trade directories record 2,000 square metres of ground and 22,000 plants; the species total differs between directories, one saying over nine hundred and another over a thousand, and the nursery itself gives no total. Its 2025 plant list runs to 85 entries across 48 genera, with Saxifraga alone accounting for 18 of them. Rock garden plants dominate the list, followed by Delosperma, Primula, the houseleeks and ferns, each entry giving origin, size, light and soil requirements and the price at the time.
Three directions are particular to this nursery: Shortia, the very rare small herbs of that genus; dwarf willows from all over the world; and unusual woody plants from the Himalaya. The owner takes an interest in rare dwarf woody plants generally, and is always glad to exchange plants for other rarities.
What the 2025 List Contains
The list is a five page PDF titled Pflanzenangebot 2025, with photographs of the plants. Every entry gives the origin and the growing notes, a Spanish sand stonecrop, a Swiss club moss, a Chilean cushion plant, a New Zealand dwarf Hebe, a Himalayan dwarf willow among them. Prices run from 4.50 to 30 euros, the 30 euro plant being a Spanish fir. A set of letter codes records where each plant came from: W means the seed was taken directly from the stated wild locality, K that it is a later generation of propagated stock, and Verbr. that no specific wild site is known and only the general range can be given. UV means availability is not guaranteed all year, and G that only a few are left and they will go quickly.
Behind those codes is the nursery’s own principle: where he has raised a plant from seed and can trace the wild origin, he says so, and where he cannot, he says plainly that only the range is known. The list also gives height H, width B, flowering time BZ and delivery size MB for each, together with sun, half shade, dry or well drained markings. Soil is marked in two ways, BN for neutral general rock garden soil at pH 5.5 to 6.5, and KA for soil enriched with limestone chippings. The mixing ratio he recommends is one part slightly loamy sand, one part fine chippings, loam or ordinary garden soil, and one part peat left as nature made it.
How to Buy and How to Collect
The rules here differ from an ordinary mail order nursery, and shipping has now stopped: plants are sold only by appointment at the nursery, to be looked at and chosen in person. The reason given is that this is all done alongside other work, and the time simply is not there. Enquiries can be sent by email or phone to arrange a time, and the owner also brings plants to the plant fairs, where orders can be placed in advance. The terms on the site spell this out: shipping only after a prior enquiry, with a reply on whether the plant is available and whether the timing works; collection at the nursery or delivery to a fair; prices carry no VAT under the small business rule, and there is no price guarantee, so they may change during the season.

Payment is spelled out as well: for shipping, payment in advance by transfer or PayPal; for collection at the nursery, cash on the spot, and card payment is excluded. The wording in the list is that sales last as long as stock remains, and a customer has no claim to a plant once it has been dropped from the range or can no longer be supplied through no fault of the nursery.
Fairs and Opening
The 2026 fair dates are listed on the site’s calendar page: 2 and 3 May at the Leipzig Botanical Garden from 10am to 6pm, where the nursery has its own stand; 4 April at the Botanical Garden in Adorf in the Vogtland, 10am to 4pm; 24 May at the plants and craft fair in the Botanical Garden at Altenburg, 10am to 5pm; 14 June at the rare plant exchange in the Jena Botanical Garden, 10am to 5pm; and again on 19 and 20 September at the Leipzig Botanical Garden, 10am to 6pm. Plants can be ordered in advance for a fair and brought along.
The nursery itself is open to visitors, but again only by prior arrangement. Beyond the calendar there is a garden design service on the site: redesigning an existing garden, planning a new one, garden care and the professional advice that goes with it, offered as a complete service around house, yard and garden. The way in is the contact form.
Changes Around the List
The catalogue page is candid about the current state. What is still online is the 2025 edition, and no new one will be written, because stock of every plant is currently on the small side and the offer changes constantly. New rarities will be brought to the fairs instead, and anything wanted can be asked about in advance.
Contact details are on the site’s contact page and in its legal notice: the owner is Danilo Geißler, trading as an individual, based in the village of Gorschmitz in the town of Leisnig, Saxony. The address and telephone number are given here only down to the town level, without the house number and line. Since every visit and every purchase runs through an appointment, that is the point worth remembering if you have not been before.
