Brackendale Nurseries
About Brackendale Nurseries
Brackendale Nurseries is an independent family-owned plant nursery in east Dorset, close to Verwood, Ferndown and Wimborne, and a short drive from Bournemouth and Poole. The nursery has been growing plants for more than fifty years and specialises in shrubs, perennials, climbers, rhododendrons and azaleas, fruit and ornamental trees, conifers and evergreen hedging.
Product Range
The nursery’s range is organised into six main categories (shrubs, perennials, climbers, rhododendrons and azaleas, fruit and ornamental trees, and conifers) plus a dedicated evergreen hedging section covering Laurel, Griselinia, Photinia and conifer hedging. In addition it groups stock by buying scenario — hedging and screening, native container-grown trees for Tree Preservation Orders, and fruit and ornamental trees for garden structure.
In-Nursery Propagation and Supporting Products
Most of the plants sold at Brackendale are propagated and grown on site, giving the nursery first-hand knowledge of each variety’s growth habit, hardiness and root quality. Supporting products include composts, mulches and feeds from Melcourt, Sinclair, Rootgrow, Vitax and Strulch, letting customers complete their soil preparation and planting on the same visit.
Garden Design Advice and Local Delivery
The nursery offers in-store planting advice for gardens in the Dorset and south Hampshire area: suggesting plants for specific locations and soils, calculating quantities for borders and hedges, and advising on planting schemes for new borders. Local delivery is provided by the nursery’s own vehicles, particularly for taller trees and bulk orders that customers cannot transport themselves.
Industry Affiliation and Contact
Brackendale is a member of the Horticultural Trades Association and participates in the HTA National Garden Gift Voucher and Gift Card scheme. Its own-grown plants are also listed in the RHS Plant Finder, giving gardeners an additional way to locate stock. Contact details, seasonal hours and order enquiries are available through the nursery’s official website.
