Lakemount is a garden for all seasons. Winter is moody with strong architectural shapes of bare trees and antique urns, spring is full of blossom and bulbs, summer is joyful with flowers and autumn is rich with colour.

ONE OF THE FINEST PRIVATE GARDENS IN IRELAND

Welcome to our stunning private garden in Cork City. Lakemount is meticulously maintained and offers year-round interest. 

The garden is divided into a formal pond garden with mixed shrubs and perennial borders set around sweeps of lawn. The orchard is populated with chickens and usually our children on a trampoline. And the long-neglected cottage garden has undergone a remarkable transformation, blossoming into a fruitful potager of raised beds overflowing with vegetables and fruits. 

This is a collectors garden with unusual species and varieties. The grey Liscannor flagstone paths guide you on your colourful way, depending on the season. Winter brings snowdrops and hellebores. In spring our 20+ magnolias blossom with the daffodils. In summer you don’t even know where to look, flowers are everywhere. And autumn leaves are rich with colour as the orchard bears fruit.  

We have two small, friendly dogs, two cats, and three children. There are rescue turtles, fish and frogs in the pond, chickens in the orchard, worms in the wormeries and bee hives. And that’s just what we know about! We use the principles of organic gardening and are free of chemicals and pesticides to encourage biodiversity and wildlife.

All profits generated are lovingly reinvested back into the property, allowing us to open our doors to the public and share this enchanting garden with locals and visitors. Many of the large pots and ornaments previous visitors would remember were sadly auctioned away before we took ownership. An injustice we’re continuing to remedy. 

We warmly welcome groups for guided tours by appointment and can accommodate couples in our newly refurbished Airbnb, modernised from a dilapidated shack on the property.
