露天抗性栽培与生物多样性

苗圃的玫瑰不种在温室内，而是直接栽在田间。植株在自然风雨与季节节奏中生长，长期适应本地气候，被认为具有较强的耐候能力，植株相对粗壮。苗圃周边保留野生花草带，为捕食性昆虫提供栖息地：食蚜蝇、寄生蜂、瓢虫等自然天敌常年出现在地块上，构成对蚜虫等害虫的天然控制。这种不依赖化学药剂的种植方式，是苗圃生物多样性的基础。

国际育种新品种测试平台

苗圃长期作为国际玫瑰育种者测试新品种的合作田块：来自世界各地的育种人会把他们的新杂交后代送到 Bierkreek 试种，经过田间观察后表现稳定者，由苗圃作为首发渠道在欧洲市场推出。苗圃也会同时保留多个原生种与稀有品种，作为庭院玫瑰爱好者收藏渠道。

Mest-op-Maat® 肥料订阅与分销

围绕有机玫瑰，苗圃开发了一款名为 Mest-op-Maat® 的定制有机玫瑰肥料，按订阅方式每年三次配送到家，配套施肥建议。除了官网直购外，苗圃在泽兰省内设有分销点（verkooppunten），顾客可以现场选购；订购和分销都附有活苗配送条款，因苗圃对包装与运输有较为严格的限制。

Overview and organic positioning

Rozenkwekerij de Bierkreek is a small family-run nursery located in Biervliet, in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands. The nursery has been growing garden roses outdoors in open fields since 1999 — more than 25 years of continuous operation. Its fields are embedded within wildflower strips and hedgerows in the Zeeland countryside, and the site is recognised locally as a biodiversity hotspot (biodiversiteitsparel). Bierkreek is the only nursery in the Netherlands that specialises exclusively in organically grown garden roses.

Skal certification and 25 years of organic practice

From the outset the nursery has been managed under organic rules and is inspected annually by Skal, the Dutch organic certification body that also handles compliance with the EU organic label in the Netherlands. The Skal registration number is published on the nursery’s contact page. No synthetic pesticides and no synthetic fertilisers are used on the plots. Because of this practice, the whole plant — flowers, leaves and hips — is edible, and the bushes remain naturally vigorous.

Field-grown resistance and on-site biodiversity

The roses are not grown under glass but in open field rows, where they grow with the seasons and harden off naturally against local weather. The nursery maintains wildflower margins around the plots, which support hoverflies, parasitic wasps and ladybirds that keep aphids in check. This kind of natural pest control is the basis of the farm’s biodiversity claim.

Test plots for international breeders

Bierkreek has long served as a trial site for rose breeders abroad: breeders send new seedlings to be evaluated under Dutch field conditions, and the nursery introduces the ones that perform well as the European launch channel. The catalogue also includes several species roses and rare varieties for collectors of old-fashioned and unusual forms.

Mest-op-Maat® subscription and Dutch distribution

Alongside the plants, the nursery has developed its own organic rose feed, Mest-op-Maat®, delivered as a subscription three times a year with a tailored feeding schedule. Roses are sold directly through the on-site webshop and through a network of resellers (verkooppunten) elsewhere in Zeeland and beyond. Live-plant orders go out under careful packing and shipping rules, given that the nursery ships living plants rather than dry goods.
