KG) is a German family-owned producer of professional horticultural growing media, supplying tailor-made substrates for pot flowers, soft fruits, nursery stock, propagation, mushroom casing and ornamental plants. The company is based in Papenburg, Lower Saxony, where it operates its own port and terminal area together with the affiliated logistics arm Brill Papenburg Logistics. In January 2022, Brill Substrate joined the Finnish Kekkilä-BVB group, expanding the group’s footprint in Germany and Italy while retaining both the Brill and TerraBRILL brands.

Each substrate line is matched to a specific crop rhythm and growing system; for example, strawberry substrates are formulated separately for gutter, rack, short-cycle, long-cycle and remontant varieties. All substrates are built from RAL-certified raw materials wherever possible and pass internal and external stress tests before release. Growers also receive a free LUFA water analysis and a customised fertiliser blend to fit their local irrigation water.
