历史沿革与合署改革
山西农业大学的前身是 1907 年由孔祥熙先生创办的私立铭贤学堂, 1916 年增设大学预科, 1928 年开办农科, 1931 年开办工科。1937 年七七事变后学校被迫南迁, 1939 年辗转到达四川金堂县; 1940 年国民政府教育部批准立案, 成立铭贤农工专科; 1943 年改建为铭贤学院, 由专科改为本科, 学系由 3 个扩大到 8 个 (农艺、畜牧兽医、农业经济、机械工程、化学工程、纺织工程、工商管理、银行).1947 年铭贤学院由金堂迁往成都办学, 1950 年 11 月迁返山西太谷原铭贤学堂旧址, 1951 年 10 月 1 日山西省人民政府接管, 改私立为公办, 正式成立山西农学院。1979 年 7 月 27 日经国务院批准, 山西农学院更名为山西农业大学, 被列为改革开放初全国 99 所重点大学之一。2019 年 10 月山西省委省政府决定, 山西农业大学与山西省农业科学院合署改革, 成立新的山西农业大学; 2024 年 12 月省委省政府进一步支持深化校院合署改革, 争创一流学科。
校区分布与学科体系
学校 (院) 现设太谷校区和太原龙城校区两个校区, 在山西省 9 个市设有研究机构。教学单位 22 个, 直属科研机构 20 个; 现有 9 个博士后科研流动站、9 个博士学位授权一级学科、1 个博士专业学位授权类别、14 个硕士学位授权一级学科、10 个硕士专业学位授权类别, 自主设置食品资源与营养工程交叉学科、农业农村发展二级学科。学科专业涵盖农学、理学、工学、经济学、管理学、文学、法学、艺术学等 8 个门类, 拥有本科专业 71 个, 初步构建了以农科为核心、向上游生物学科和下游食品学科双向延伸、其他相关学科为支撑的学科体系。动物遗传育种与繁殖是 1 个国家重点 (培育) 学科, 农业工程、作物学、园艺学、农业资源与环境、植物保护、畜牧学、兽医学、林学、草学等 9 个学科为省级重点学科; 植物学与动物学、农业科学、环境与生态科学三个学科进入 ESI 全球前 1%。
师资人才与科研平台
学校 (院) 现有教师、科研人员及职工 4396 人, 其中正高级专业技术人员 492 人, 副高级专业技术人员 1398 人; 博士生导师 316 人, 硕士生导师 1473 人。高层次人才中, 中国工程院院士 1 人、国际欧亚科学院院士 1 人、长江学者特聘教授 1 人、国家杰出青年科学基金获得者 2 人、国家高层次人才特殊支持计划教学名师项目获得者 1 人、国家优秀青年科学基金获得者 2 人、百千万人才工程国家级人选 4 人、神农领军英才 1 人 (及青年英才 6 人)、国务院学位委员会学科评议组成员 1 人、享受政府特殊津贴 84 人、国家现代农业产业技术体系副首席 2 人及岗位科学家 16 人, 省级人才 153 人。学校长期承担作物育种、动物科学、园艺、农业资源与环境等重点领域科研任务, 先后育出全国第一个高产矮秆高粱杂交种晋杂 5 号、全国第一个抗虫棉品种晋棉 26 号、世界第一个蓖麻三系杂交种晋蓖麻 2 号, 以及优质高产品种晋谷 21 号、晋麦 47 号、早青一代西葫芦、玉露香梨等, 率先提出并实践的「艺机一体化技术」引领了全国轻简化技术的创新发展。
人才培养与教学资源
学校 (院) 现有在校生 3.1 万余人, 设有全国高校黄大年式教师团队 1 个、国家级教学团队 1 个、国家一流本科专业建设点 14 个、国家级特色专业建设点 5 个、国家级一流课程 13 门、国家级实验教学示范中心 3 个、国家级大学生校外实践教育基地 1 个。百余年来先后培养了 20 余万名各类人才, 校友中涌现出郑哲敏、王志均、席承藩、郭承基、朱尊权、庄文颖、高福、张绍铃、徐明岗等 9 位院士, 以及王绶、张龙志、徐锦堂等著名学者专家; 一批扎根基层、服务三农的干部和农业技术人员长期工作在山西乃至全国农业一线。
校园文化与社会服务
现任党委书记为廖允成, 校长 (院长) 为孔照胜。校园文化建设方面, 学校是教育部本科教学评估优秀高校、山西省政府与农业农村部共建高校、全国首批深化创新创业教育改革示范高校、国家中西部基础能力建设入选高校、全国农业农村信息化示范基地。山西省农业科学院作为合署力量, 是山西农业科研的主要力量和农业技术推广服务的重要力量, 长期面向黄土高原干旱半干旱区域开展旱作农业、杂粮、畜禽、果蔬等地方特色研究。学校近期参与了援格鲁吉亚第九期农业技术援助项目、山西省种业振兴行动等工作, 苹果新品种「望月冰翠」经营权以 200 万元完成省内自主选育品种的市场化转化。
Historical Evolution and Merger
Shanxi Agricultural University traces back to Mingxian Academy, a private school founded in 1907 by H. H. Kung.It added a university preparatory division in 1916, an agriculture program in 1928, and an engineering program in 1931.After the 1937 outbreak of full-scale war the school moved south and reached Jintang County in Sichuan in 1939, where it was officially recognised as Mingxian Agricultural and Engineering College in 1940 and reorganised as Mingxian College in 1943, expanding from three to eight departments.The college returned to its original Taigu campus in Shanxi in November 1950; the Shanxi provincial government took it over on 1 October 1951, converting it into the public Shanxi Agricultural College.On 27 July 1979 the State Council approved renaming it Shanxi Agricultural University, making it one of the 99 national key universities at the start of reform and opening up.In October 2019 the Shanxi provincial Party committee and government merged Shanxi Agricultural University with the Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences under one administration; in December 2024 the merger was deepened with the goal of building a first-class discipline portfolio.
Campuses and Discipline Structure
The university now operates two campuses, the Taigu campus and the Taiyuan Longcheng campus, with research stations across nine prefecture-level cities of Shanxi.It has 22 teaching units and 20 directly affiliated research institutes.There are 9 postdoctoral research stations, 9 first-level doctoral degree programmes, 1 doctoral professional degree category, 14 first-level master’s programmes, and 10 master’s professional degree categories.Undergraduate and graduate programmes cover 8 academic fields including agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art, with 71 undergraduate majors.Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction is a national key (cultivation) discipline; nine provincial key disciplines include horticulture, crop science, agricultural engineering, and forestry & grassland sciences.Three fields — Plant & Animal Science, Agricultural Sciences, and Environment & Ecology — rank in the global top 1% of ESI.
Faculty and Research Platforms
The university employs 4,396 faculty, researchers and staff, including 492 full professors and 1,398 associate professors; 316 are doctoral supervisors and 1,473 master’s supervisors.Among senior scholars are 1 Chinese Academy of Engineering member, 1 International Eurasian Academy of Sciences member, 1 Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, 2 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 winners of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, 4 national candidates for the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project, and 1 Shennong Leading Talent (with 6 Young Talents); 84 scholars receive the State Council Special Allowance, and 16 serve as scientists in the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Technology System.Its crop breeding programmes produced China’s first high-yielding dwarf sorghum hybrid Jinza 5, China’s first insect-resistant cotton variety Jinmian 26, and the world’s first three-line castor hybrid Jinbima 2; the team also released Jingao 21, Jinmai 47, Zaoqing generation 1 squash, and the Yuluxiang pear, and pioneered the integrated agronomic-and-machinery technique widely adopted in Chinese dryland farming.
Talent Training and Teaching Resources
More than 31,000 students are currently enrolled.There is 1 Huang Danian-style teacher team at the national level, 1 national teaching team, 14 national first-class undergraduate major sites, 5 nationally characteristic majors, 13 national first-class courses, 3 national experimental teaching demonstration centres, and 1 national off-campus practice education base for university students.Over more than a century the university has trained over 200,000 graduates, including nine academicians — Zheng Zhemin, Wang Zhijun, Xi Chengfan, Guo Chengji, Zhu Zunquan, Zhuang Wenying, Gao Fu, Zhang Shaoqian, and Xu Minggang — along with scholars such as Wang Shou, Zhang Longzhi, and Xu Jintang.
Campus Culture and Outreach
The current Party secretary is Liao Yuncheng; the president (and academy head) is Kong Zhaosheng.The university is a Ministry of Education undergraduate teaching evaluation excellence recipient, a co-built university of the Shanxi provincial government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, a national pilot for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and a national agricultural-informatisation demonstration site.Through its merged Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences arm the institution serves as the main agricultural research and extension backbone in Shanxi, with long-running programmes in dryland farming, coarse cereals, livestock, and fruit trees on the Loess Plateau.Recent outreach includes the ninth-phase agricultural technical assistance project for Georgia, seed-industry revitalisation work under the Shanxi provincial government, and the 2 million RMB transfer of operating rights for the newly bred apple variety Wangyue Bingcui.
