2026 年品牌调整

Database Overview
OrchidWiz is developed by OrchidWiz, LLC, based in Louisville, Colorado, USA. Its first product, OrchidWiz Encyclopedia, was released in November 2005. The software consolidates decades of orchid records — hybrid registrations, species listings, awards, cultural notes, photographs, image sources, and parentage trees — into a single offline Windows database, so hobbyists can replace the scattered lookups previously done in printed books, foreign journals, and society bulletins.

Institutional Users and Volunteers
OrchidWiz has more than 4,000 paying users in 61 countries spanning every U.S. state. Beyond hobbyists, over 250 orchid nurseries and botanical institutions run OrchidWiz Encyclopedia in their daily operations, including the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory (Detroit), Missouri Botanical Garden, Smithsonian Greenhouse (Washington, D.C.), USDA-ARS, the National Botanic Garden of Belgium, Singapore Botanic Gardens, the University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Tropical Agriculture, the Department of Agricultural Extension of Thailand, and the University of Gent (Belgium). The software has been licensed by 17 American Orchid Society (AOS) judging centers and more than 340 individual AOS judges. By the late 2010s, OrchidWiz Encyclopedia was supported by over 300 volunteers who contributed 200,000-plus orchid photographs, 300,000 image sources, light and temperature recommendations, and pronunciation guides.
2026 Brand Transition
In August 2026, the International Orchid Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2013, acquired the OrchidWiz business and data, moving them to the orchidwiz.org platform. The legacy Windows-based OrchidWiz Encyclopedia is being transitioned to a browser-based online query interface. The new site offers free orchid-name search, hybridizer/grower/photographer community pages, a user guide, and paid membership tiers. Existing subscribers can still renew the Quarterly Update and Maintenance Plan for the latest data, while OrchidWiz, LLC retains its Louisville, Colorado mailing address.
